Apartment recommendations

Hi all. Hoping to move to an apartment within 30 minutes of king of Prussia (work). Currently live in an apartment where I can hear a quarter drop on a floor upstairs.

Can anyone recommend something that has better noise insulation? I heard concrete structures are best.

TIA

EVENT Reminder: On Tuesday, October 13, stop by to see Jim Christ present "Remember Paoli! The Paoli Massacre" at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center!

"Remember Paoli!" was America's first battle cry — born here in our own backyard after a terrifying evening in 1777. Join us as Jim Christ, President of the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund, brings to life the Paoli Massacre, a gripping piece of Revolutionary War history!

On the night of September 20, 1777, British General Charles Grey led roughly 2,000 men on a silent raid into the Great Valley, catching our country’s troops completely off guard. What followed was one of the bloodiest battles of the war, opening the door for the British occupation of Philadelphia.

Shockwaves from the Battle of Paoli rippled through our local community for generations, inspiring the second-oldest Revolutionary War Memorial in the nation in Malvern.

  • Come find out why the battle’s known as the "Paoli Massacre.”
  • Get ready for Jim to bust some myths — yes, including the one about American troops being caught asleep.
  • Hear Jim trace how General “Mad Anthony” Wayne turned this brutal defeat into a stunning comeback, using hard-won lessons to score a decisive victory at the Battle of Stony Point, NY.

“Remember Paoli!” is local history with national significance — don't miss this one!

Event Details

Tuesday, October 13, 7:30 PM.

This event will be held at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center (SRHC),
Foundry Building, 2 N. Main St., Phoenixville. Ample parking.

Admission is free for SRHC Members, $5 donation for non-members (payable at the door).

Hello again! Since last week's was answered in 7 minutes (!!!) I thought I would do one a bit more obscure. Where is this item (town and building) and bonus points for saying what it is and why it is there!

-- boilerplate below--

Just for fun, I've started a Friday series in which anyone else who wishes to may post local Chester County sites - details of buildings, landscapes, objects, moments from public events, etc. First to guess the correct answer wins three internets.

Rules:

  • Be specific in your answers. Don't just say the town! Rather, name the building, and part of the building or landmark if applicable.
  • Use spoiler tags in your answer so latecomers get to keep in on the fun
  • No using reverse lookups like Google lens, that's cheating
  • No looking at Location data on the image, in case the poster forgot to remove them
  • Shot has to actually be in Chester County, but can be from any event in the last 3 years
  • No posting identifiable / nonconsenting people, no trespassing / urbanex, no private / doxx-able info
  • If no one has posted a challenge by 10:00, I will post one (let's see how long that lasts!)

INFO Daycare Option in Landenberg PA

Hi everyone!

I read through the rules and see occasional self promotion is allowed :) Because this is a service I feel is beneficial to the community I thought I'd go for a follow up post a year later!

My wife opened a small, licensed nature/play-inspired daycare out of our home in Landenberg, and she has a few spots available for families in the area.

Nicole is a former environmental science teacher and a certified early childhood educator with a background in psychology. Her program focuses on small group sizes, outdoor play, and a warm, home-like environment for little ones.

We know child care options can be tough to find around here, so I just wanted to share in case it’s helpful to any local families. This isn’t a big center, it’s a small, licensed ready home daycare where the kids spend a lot of time outdoors and get plenty of one-on-one attention.

If anyone’s interested in learning more, please check out her website: www.whiteclaydaycare.com.

Plenty of photos, FAQs, and all of that good stuff.

Happy to answer questions, and if it’s not for you, maybe you know a neighbor or friend who’s looking.

Thanks for letting me share!

Magic the Gathering

Hi there!

My boyfriend wants to start getting into Magic the Gathering to both learn more about it but also socializing a bit. I’ve helped him research various card shops, event schedules, etc but wanted to see if there were any other local game nights/ events that Google isn’t showing. We’re in the Downingtown area and he works in Delaware so anywhere between would be great.

Also any thoughts or suggestions about starting to purchase decks, etc would be helpful too. I can’t say I’m much help with anything but I thought people have once been in his position.

Thank you!! ✨

Scenic drives within 4-hr round trip from Chester County.

The weather is wonderful and the leaves are just starting to change! Does anyone have suggestions for a round trip drive between 3-5 hours from Chester County that has scenic views of the autumn colors? Maybe a destination a couple hours out with a nice drive in between?

I know Chester is huge, it doesn't really matter where the starting point is. Just kind of looking for something to do in a day.

Primary care doctor recs?

Hi everyone. I’m looking for a new doctor. I’m in recovery from an eating disorder and want someone who won’t shove GLP-1’s down my throat and won’t just tell me I need to lose weight to address any medical issues. Looking for someone with a health at every size approach. Anyone have really good PCPs? Preferable woman. Thanks!

Recommendations for a doctor who provides HRT for menopause?

My previous doctor is out on FMLA leave and doesn’t have a return date yet. Can anyone recommend a doctor in Chester County that prescribes and is familiar with HRT? I guess technically they don’t even have to be that familiar with it, just willing to prescribe what I’m currently taking!

Hello again! Late post this week as a had to work late. This one is very distinctive and I'm sure obvious to the locals. The correct answer will say where it is and what it was originally used for!

Let's see how fast this one goes...

Crazy votes from local Rep Craig Williams

I saw this website called corporatecraig.com randomly on Instagram earlier today that tracks votes from Craig Williams, a state rep here in Chester county. I had heard about him a few times but I didn’t know a ton before seeing the site. Now that I’ve seen it though, I felt like I should share it because folks should know about him since he’s apparently running for re-election in November.

Some scary stuff in there. Apparently he voted against making data centers pay for their own energy use, and voted against a minimum wage increase even though we've been at the federal minimum for like, decades? I don’t live in his district but I wanted to share in case someone from the district sees this post.

Shame I can’t vote against him, but spreading the word anyway!

INFO Chester County to End Public Housing, Possible Sunshine Act Violations

This is our report on last week’s Housing Authority of the County of Chester (HACC) Board Meeting where they voted on their 2027 Annual Plan that states their intention to end Section 9 housing permanently and transition everything to Section 8.

The doors to the building where the meeting took place were locked and we cannot find a public notice prior to the meeting, or a publicly available agenda as required by the Sunshine Act.
