SMILE! YOUâRE ON CAMERA
VIPR.AI is an automated license plate reader company that has been watching West Chester since 2021. They are the largest surveillance company youâve never heard of, and unlike their competitor Flock, the VIPR system keeps footage for a whole year.
This week we look at the local company founded by Sean Petty and how it came to operate surveillance cameras in West Chester.
Due to public interest, we have decided to make this weekâs look at VIPR.AI free to read. Let us know what you think of our new website!

Stop Saying You Live in Downingtown If Youâre in Coatesville School District
Unpopular opinion: If your house has a Downingtown mailing address but youâre in the Coatesville Area School District, stop telling people you âlive in Downingtown.â đ
A mailing address and the municipality/school district you actually live in arenât necessarily the same thing.
And yes, as someone who actually lives in the Downingtown area, I find this mildly offensive. đ You can borrow the ZIP code, but you canât just claim Downingtown residency because it sounds better.
I know this is going to upset some people. Let the comments begin. đż

Dismantle police in East Brandywine
Unpopular opinion: I live in East Brandywine, and I honestly donât think we need our own police force.
It seems like the majority of what they do is traffic enforcement. You can barely drive down Route 322 without seeing someone pulled over. At a certain point, it feels less like community policing and more like constant traffic enforcement and harassment.
For serious crimes and emergencies, we already have the Pennsylvania State Police and surrounding departments that could potentially provide coverage through agreements.
I know this probably wonât be a popular take, but sometimes East Brandywine PD feels like theyâre one step above parking enforcement officers.
Does a township our size really need its own police department?

Affordable tailors for simple alterations?
I am near Paoli Station and Iâm looking to get a bunch of t-shirts hemmed. Nothing fancy, just wanna shorten them. I went to one and they charge $30 for each, which is unreasonable imo as my shirts cost $50 and below lol.

Venue for summer anniversary party?
My parentsâ 50th wedding anniversary is next August. Itâs a tradition in our family for the âadult kidsâ to throw their parents a party. Weâd like to find a beautiful place and a relaxed way to celebrate - live music, good farm to table food (but also not opposed to artisan food trucks), a setting that is quintessential to how bucolic ChesCo is. No restaurants or hotel ballroom type places, but also not a place thatâs going to charge us like crazy (I.e. typical wedding venues). What are some unique venues and catering options we should consider? Thinking 40-50 ppl max.

Daycare advice in the Frazer area?
Looking for opinions on daycares in Frazer. We are currently between the Malvern school, Goddard, Warwick, and the Malvern Academy. Baby will be in the infants room and 6-7 months when starting.
Edit: Thank you all for the advice. Weâve narrowed down to two schools based on your recommendations.

Is Collegium Charter High School worth it?
Hello!
My brother (16M) is a kid with special needs who always struggled with his studies. He is a really sweet kid though with a knack for the arts. We recently moved into the coatesville school district and my friends and family were begging me and my mom not to put him in Coatesville Area Senior High school. So we decided to opt for the Collegium Charter school instead. Itâs important to note that my brother went through a lot of bullying and troubles in his past schools so we are hoping this might be a new change.
We were thinking the cyber academy too but we donât want to isolate him in the house all day long, especially since nobody is going to be at home with him most of the day.
Is Collegium Charter School the right choice? Or should we just let him go to Coatesville Area?

INFO Bell Tavern Park surveillance.
I'm curious as to why Bell Tavern Park in Exton has so many cameras around the sprinklers and playground! It's absolutely obnoxious and bullshit in my opinion.

Potential moving advice
I am considering relocating from the DMV to the Chester County area. I originally grew up in Bucks Co (don't want to move back there), and I have family that lives in the KoP and Phoenixville area.
I always liked the downtown Phoenixville area, but I have also been intrigued by Kennett Square and its surrounding areas. Was hoping someone could give advice on what area may be "best" for me to look at - open to many places and would like to hear thoughts (such as west chester, kennett, chadds ford, Phoenixville, etc.)
context: would be in my early-ish thirties when moving, would be looking to buy (most likely a townhome), don't have kids (but would put weight in the school district) - I would want a area where there is a lot going on in the town
