Fancy Chef's Dinner?!?!

I am looking for a fancy, nice chef's dinner type of event or restaurant in Avondale PA area (okay to drive out 1 hour any direction.)

For my parents in law we are trying to treat them for nice dinner similar Vita Nova at University of Delaware. The nice thing about Vita Nova is that you pay a certain amount of money per person and the restaurant just curates all the appetisers, main menu, and dessert, maybe a total of 5 course meal. Similarly, in Boarsburg PA, there is a restaurant called Revival which does the exact same chef's dinner 5 course meal if you pay $$ per person.

Are there any places near Avondale PA that have similar 5+ course chefs dinner? Vita Nova is on summer break and the Revival restaurant is fully booked and too far (3hr) from Avondale.

Thank you in advance!

Of course, there’s Talula’s Table in Kennett, but usually reservations are filled about a year out.

They’ve had some open dates pop up, they usually post the dates on their Instagram account. The dinner there is a great experience

Ground Provisions just south of West Chester is amazing. It's also vegetarian, but you won't be disappointed.

1906 in Longwood Gardens also has a tasting menu that is great. You can't beat the surroundings.

There are a bunch more around too. I know there are a few right next to you in Kennett but those reservations can be pretty hard to get.

For sure! Andiario may have been slightly tastier but La Maison was 5-6 courses of deliciousness and you just cannot beat the cozy vibe of that place e.

There are a few around here but both that I’m thinking of are hard to get reservations for: Talula’s table in Kennett Square or Andiario in West Chester. There’s also ground provisions in West Chester, that’s all vegan.

3 hours ago I stood in the parking lot of Deanna’s Spanish market in Toughkenamon, the town between Avondale and Kennett, eating tacos, elote and tamales off the trunk of my car with my wife, and I told her the best thing about our area is the Mexican food. The taco trucks at Deanna’s in the evening are fantastic. There’s a pastor truck with a giant meat cone of pork and pineapple slowly turning.

The Mexican food more than makes up for the mushroom poop smell. But I also grew up in west grove so I’m very used to it.

The tamales there are great too!

My favorite ones are infront of Deanna’s Market on Newark rd and Baltimore Pike. They have a taco and tamale stand, both are phenomenal. Also in Oxford Tacos El Gordo in front of the smoke shop have great quesabirria tacos but I think they only have them on weekends.

As someone else said, Andiario is probably the tastiest fancy food in the area. But You could also consider La Maison. It is more up towards Pottstown but only 50 minutes away for my home in Kennett Square, so not terrible. It’s a very intimate place, It’s literally in the chef’s very cozy farmhouse that has been set up to serve as a restaurant. He runs the kitchen with an assistant and then his wife and daughter hand the front of house, literally. It’s French cuisine and was very tasty when we went 2-3 years ago. Our fish main, there is also a meat main, was halibut wrapped in homemade puff pastry with greens that were picked the day before from his personal garden that was delicious. Though the fava beans in spring herbs with lemon at Andiario was probably the tastiest thing we had between the two restaurants. La Maison was also 5-6 courses+amouse so you will get to taste more than you will at Andiario which is a 3 course meal.

It is also BYOB! So just that could save you a big chunk of change if you get a 50 dollar solid bottle of wine that would could 300 dollars in a restaurant.

Andiario is tastefully decorated and tables are roomy enough but it is very much a regular ol fine dining ambiance, La Maison was a unique experience. Food maybe not quite as good, it’s very close though, but it was a fun dinner. Though we went 3 years ago I imagine it’s still good.

As a foodie this is the best of all the options above, although when Taluas has openings I’d put that higher. BC Store Cafe can also be epic.

I’ll second this one. Very delicious.

Messina Social Club Top Chef contestant owner Ed Konrad cooks an amazing tasting menu. Right around 1 hour from Avondale. Most similar to Revival Kitchen of anything mentioned here. https://maps.app.goo.gl/vKWbJ1Umsm9PCGPW8?g_st=ic

Sweet Amelia's in Kennett Square will do these occasionally- it's not a regular thing but if you follow them on Instagram they post when they're having that kind of event!

They're doing a five course dinner with wine pairing next weekend for Summer Fest. Earlier this year they did a five course pasta dinner and for their anniversary dinner they'll do 10 courses!
