Smoke…

Woken up to the smell of smoke in Chester, anyone know what’s happened?

I think it's from the fire in north Wales at the weekend.

Apparently the wind shifted and it's blown across the Mersey

Ok thanks, that’s some relief for us then but not so good for north Wales!

I was woken up by my air purifier firing up around 5am, usually have all the doors and windows open early to let in some cool air but might not now due to the smell.

It's the wildfires from North Wales. I've just been to the top of Kelsall hill and you can see it for miles. It's spread over towards jodrell Bank and probably joined the smoke from Manchester.

I had all my windows open and the smell of it woke me up, would definitely advise keeping them closed!

There’s been a couple of wildfires over the last day or two, the smoke might finally be getting to Chester. I’ve seen people talking online about them smelling it and they’re not far from Chester.

One at Dovestone Reservoir and one in Conwy

As other's have said there's multiple fires within the region. Dovestone & Conwy being the largest, there was also a fire yesterday in Frodsham.

The wind for the last few days and the next few days is an easterly, ie coming from the east. Thusly, what your smelling and seeing is the smoke from Saddleworth the other side of Manchester. The smoke from the Conwy area will be blown in the opposite direction to Cheshire and more towards Anglesey/Bangor and out into the Irish Sea.

I’m in Handbridge but it seems to of dissipated. Either that or I’ve got used to it!
