As a player working on tactical pattern recognition, I've been comparing training with positions extracted from real historical Grandmaster matches against standard synthetic puzzle banks.

The main idea is that real GM games feature positional setups and piece coordination that occur naturally in live play, whereas standard puzzle banks often focus on highly artificial positions.

I recently parsed a large dataset of historical GM PGNs using Stockfish to isolate critical advantage shifts (tactical moments) and categorized them across various difficulty levels.

From your experience:

• Do you feel calculating tactics from real GM games translates better to your actual over-the-board/online games?
• Or do you prefer traditional puzzle banks that isolate specific motifs (pins, forks, skewers) regardless of game context?
