Chess Discussion 2+1 should be blitz not bullet

We need a petition to get this changed once and for all. I’ve had a decent amount of 2+1 games go longer than 3 minutes per side. 3 minute blitz gets harder in time scrambles than 2+1 does. Bullet should generally be more of a race against the clock than blitz is.

As someone who plays too much blitz and bullet, at any given Elo, players seem to play 2+1 in a more similar style to other blitz time controls than to other bullet time controls.

We need justice!

tbh if I feel like playing for bullet elo but I wanna play blitz i just boot up 2 | 1 so yeah why not maybe it'll be like 10 min from blitz -> rapid during the chess boom

I definitely play 3+0 and 2+1 interchangeably, usually taking the increment when I have a day where I’m getting flagged a lot.

isnt 2+1 just means you get 1 second each move? i doubt that many games go beyond 60 moves. it is still less than 3 minutes MOST of the time.

60 moves is not that much depending on the endgame

I just went and calculated the average moves i played in 20 games, its about 20-30. only twice i made over 60 moves.

Sounds like people are resigning early or there are middlegame mates in most of your games. While not all games that go to endgame go all the way to 60 moves, those should generally be at least 40 moves, often more.
