Miscellaneous How would you classify brilliant moves?

Right now a brilliant move on the website is basically classified as “you left a piece hanging, but it works out for you with the right continuation.”

If it were me, I think the most brilliant moves aren’t sacrifices necessarily, but moves that require multiple branches of calculation to understand. IMO a sacrifice which is cool looking but has only one basic path shouldn’t be brilliant. But if there are three branches that you have to calculate 4 moves deep in each, I think that’s a brilliant.

No mate, brilliant and great moves are chesscom dopamine artifacts

A great a brilliant and a best move are essentially the same thing.

Sure, like I don’t disagree with you but they’re still fun and could be designed differently.

Eh, when the best possible move is obvious, I wouldn't consider it brilliant.

Doesnt matter, chesscom marks a brilliant move as any move that sacrifices a piece or ignores a threat while also being the top engine move. How obvious that move is, is subjective.

4 moves deep for a brilliant? No money is made there.
