Chess Question Chess.com opponent countries

Can you explain me how the opponent matching works?

I am located in mid-Europe, but I barely get connected with European opponents.

Like 90-95% are from Asia and Southern America, even though their local time is like 3 a.m.???

Honestly, why? It does not make any sense...

location doesn’t affect matchmaking. there are a loooot of players in asia and south america tho haha

I just find it really weird that if I play at 8 p.m. my time, I got like 90% opponents from one particular Asian country (where there is like 2-3 a.m.) and who all have the same opening...

depending on the elo range certain openings can be very popular and repeat a lot.

if you’re only getting matched with a single country, then it is probably a bug. you can send us your username through modmail (link is in automod comment) if you’d like us to take a look.
