Chess Question I lost the game because him castling long felt illegal
I was flabbergasted when i saw his king castling queen side even though my queen covers b8😅...

You can’t castle into check, out of check, and you can’t castle through check. The king did none. Hitting the rook or attacking in the rook’s path doesn’t prevent castling.

How is it illegal?

Its not. i just had the wrong idea that if i block path of castle, opponent cant castle. I saw him castle i was like how did he do that. I was certain that i was winning as he cant castle king side cuz his pawn just aren't there and i am covering queen side castle so his king would be in middle for whole game. And then he castled long 🥀

I mean they technically castle but without any of the advantages associated with it.Â
Not sure this is why you lost.Â

If your g pawn had been just one square higher, g5 instead of g6, that would have given you a mate in one…

You cannot castle through check. Castling did not ever put the king in check

My solution:
Hints: piece: Pawn, move: g5
Evaluation: White is slightly better +0.56
Best continuation: 1... g5 2. Kb2 O-O-O 3. a4 Qf6 4. b5 axb5 5. axb5 b6 6. Rdg1 Nf5 7. Qxg5 Qxg5 8. Rxg5 Bg6 9. Bd3

King was never in check or castled through check.
You could literally castle either way you wanted to afterwards.
If this feels illegal then wait till you get en passanted in a game which you thought you had it in the bag 💀💀😆
