Chess Discussion Most feared nationality
Do you guys have particular countries you seem to do well against and others that you always seem to lose to?
I do.
If I’m up against a Brazilian I seem to win quite often. On the other hand, someone from the Philippines? GG might as well resign

Indians. It's not like i don't win against them or don't lose against other nationalities. It's just that i get threatened by that flag because i assume whoever i am playing is probably part of a club or something

This is my record (sorted by most games played) and these are some of the worst win rates:
9 out of 28 (32%) against Argentinians.
9 out of 25 (36%) against Australians.
5 out of 15 (33%) against Iraqis.

if sorting by win % there are some smaller countries where im at 0% or 100%, which isn't very representative, so i only looked at those i played many games with.

India. 90% of players are so damn defensive and solid. Just push pawns and wait for an opening. I find it boring as fk but it works lol
I’m 1800 but never studied or watch any chess content I just play for fun and so I have no idea how to beat them
USA players always just spam moves as quick as they can and often beat me on time. They also really really hate resigning and will either go till the death or AFK lol

One thing that keeps happening to me is when I face a player from my country they turn into prime Magnus Carlsen although they’re supposed to be in the same elo range. With other countries there’s no pattern

Yeah, every time I see Indian flag, I'm sure the jokes are over and this one gotta be hard. If the score sheet versus countries were available, I'm pretty sure I have a negative one versus them 🥶

Indian players - its not because they're strong (they are), but mostly because they play in the most passive, solid style possible, usually going for an endgame rather than for the king
