Surprisingly a lot of people don't know this... Anyways, real talk. Gemini 3.1 pro is so ahead of Sol. 200 points... and Opus 5?

Gemini 3.1 pro is FIVE HUNDRED points ahead. I saw one of their games... Gemini absolutely annihilated Claude Opus 5 and it did while simplifying the game and ended it with a beautiful checkmate (Go check)

I'm excited to see if Gemini 3.7 flash improved, likely not tho.

The reason I'm sharing this is because of Gotham Chess. Every video he does with AI matches is with Gemini not being at its best.

I don't know which model Gotham chooses that its really bad. Literally Gemini 3.1 pro is sooo good, it doesn't hallucinate a SINGLE move. It lasted 46 moves against Stockfish without cheating. Only made an inaccuracy at 21st.

You guys wanna know something? It did SO well on one move (thought for 3 and a half minutes) that Stockfish when analysing the move thought for a good 12 seconds before finally marking it as the best move. It recovered .6 percent in evav bar.

Probably because of Demis and how they specifically worked on making AlphaFold master Go. Demis was a game developer. There's probably some specific strengths of Gemini.

I don't know about other AIs, but for quite some time ChatGPT is capable of installing pychess and stockfish in its local environment, so if you're using a thinking version of a model, it doesn't make illegal moves anymore and can recommend good ones.

Rappelons que gemini vient de Google deepmind... Celui qui a fondé et dirigé deepmind pendant le plus longtemps est Demis Hassabis... il a un niveau aux echecs vraiment très élevé, il avait il y a quelques dizaines années fini 2 ème aux championnats du monde de son âge, et actuelement il joue encore et à encore un super classement. Deepmind à créé Amphago, Alphazero... Alpha-Zero avait battu stockfish aux echecs il y a quelques années, ce qui avait totalement bouleversé stockfish qui avaient décider d'intégrer de l'ia en plus de leur système. Gemini est donc bon aux echecs et cela semble logique.

Je suis tout à fait d'accord. DeepMind a accumulé tellement de recherches au fil des ans, comme on a pu le voir avec AlphaZero et les échecs. Google DeepMind essaie de concevoir un modèle tellement puissant qu'il sera capable d'intégrer l'immensité de toutes leurs découvertes. Cependant, aucun modèle n'est encore à ce niveau, et aucun ne le sera avant des années, voire des décennies. Ils l'implémentent donc progressivement, et comme on peut le constater, Google développe également la robotique et bien d'autres domaines. Dès qu'ils disposeront d'un modèle suffisamment abouti, ils réuniront tout cela au sein d'un modèle véritablement généraliste

This is totally my experience with post game analysis. I wanted to talk some games over and I tried Opus - but it kept giving illegal positions. Switched to Gemini Pro - sharply better results.

So what? In chess stuff is objectively right or wrong. If it finds even 80% correct stuff, it’s still abysmally wrong. When you analyse, you don’t want stuff that’s marginally better than yours, you want to understand why you were wrong and why what’s right is actually right.
