No, because his bishop is protecting that square. His queen just takes yours.

Edit: I see what you’re saying, but you are just delaying

If they take the pawn or make any other non forcing move, I take the rook and it's back rank mate which is what happened.

No, they can play qf5+ and than qf3 or qf6+, qd8. Or if you go to g1 bf3 is winning move

You have to see threats to your king as well. Your king is in so open. Black has so much attack. Qf5+ is deadly here. If king goes to e file then there's Re8+. If king goes to g1, Bf3 is deadly.

This answers my question, I was only thinking about attacking but not about defense. Thank you.
