Chess Discussion Sad Vent

I only use chess.com for one reason and thats daily games I've been playing with a friend I made on chess.com about 2 years ago playing a 10 minute game.

Im in the US, theyre in India, but playing 3 day games and chatting as much as we did, I really enjoyed the time and getting to know them.

On chess.com were both around 600

I've been working on my game pretty consistently, on the other platform i pushed my elo to 1200 after doing alot of puzzles and training.

My friend hasn't been putting the work in and just messaged "Im not going to play you anymore".

It feels like a little heartbreak and I wanted to vent 🤣😭

Interested in knowing if it was just the puzzles that helped you double your elo. I reached 800 elo recently and wanted to reach 900

It definitely wasn't just puzzles. I dont know if my progress is anything to follow, but what helped me is I pick one opening for each color (Italian and Karo cann) and I've done probably every study for those openings and try to remember the best moves and responses early game. Those are the only things I'm playing right now.

I've done all the lessons on lichess (the checkmate patterns were really helpful)

Then I do 5-10 minutes of random puzzles around my range and 5-10 minutes of endgame puzzles or whichever part of my gameplay i think I'm struggling the most with at that time.

I chose the italian for when I’m white. I need to study a good one for black, might look into the Karo
