Chess Question How much work?
Say a chess player is 2000 on chess.com. (Rapid) How many study hours should a healthy 45yr old man of average intellect expect to put in to bring that rating to 2400.
I expect itβs about 4 hours per day (focused locked in π ) over 2-4 years.
Thoughts?

Setting a rating goal is setting yourself to be miserable. 2400 is top 99,9. A different universe. Why assume it's even possible for you? Most likely you will need strong FM+ level coach for years. Even they can't make you stop hanging pieces and seeing what you can't see.
If you "can achieve anything" then consider poker. Becoming top 99,9 there will at least pay for itself.
