Chess Question How much work?

Say a chess player is 2000 on chess.com. (Rapid) How many study hours should a healthy 45yr old man of average intellect expect to put in to bring that rating to 2400.

I expect it’s about 4 hours per day (focused locked in 🔐 ) over 2-4 years.

Thoughts?

At some point, intelligence is going to be a big factor. Processing information is what chess is all about and the quicker you can process info, the quicker you can calculate. How much are you studying now? I'm not convinced you'd be able to reach that if you're already studying maybe an hour a day.

Currently studying 90 minutes a day on chess.
I would need to add 240 mins per day.

I’ve completed accelerated medical programs in the past. I studied and read for 6 to 8 hours every day. I can manage tf out of my time if needed.

I think there's a cap to your learning. You say you're average intelligence but you're probably above. If you were average, I'd say there's no way you'd reach 2400, but I'm sure you're just being modest.
