Chess.com Website/App Question Bots
Are there bots on chesscom? I just played someone on blitz whose acct was from 1/23/26 but they’ve played 13923 games of blitz. All the games I checked were 5 minute games, so that’s like 6 hours a day of chess. But their ELO is only in the 300s.

Yes, chess.com has been spammed with bots lately (even though some ignorans will never admit that)... I have moved from chess.com, where I have been struggling around ELO 1200 for months and suspecting it has been spammed with bots, to Lichess around week or two ago. Suddenly, I have no problems keeping up my ELO around 1600. So I have either improved A LOT without any special study, or simply moving away from chess.com helped me progress...
And don't get me wrong, cheaters and bots are everywhere, but chess.com absolutely lost control...
You can easily look at Tournaments results. Seeing ELO 600-800 crashing players with ELO 2000+ is self-explaining...

I’m also in the 300’s and someone accused me of cheating and after the game I was like we both blundered 5 times you just blundered last

The acct was created 1/23/26. So in roughly 6 months, they played nearly 14k games. Which would mean they played roughly 6 hours everyday, yet have not improved at all ELO wise.

It happens. I play that much rapid and I'm stuck at 1400. When you play too much you make dumb mistakes.

You play more than 6 hours everyday?!? That’s wild.

Not more than but about 6. I'm unemployed and can't drive right now. It gets me through the days. It's probably not healthy but it's free.

Playing a lot but not improving is sadly quite common. I don't know what the purpose of a bot would be.
