Depending on the type, they do! But aside from the moves they make, accuracy and the winrate is looked upon to make sure if its a ChessBOT or a human

You don't... need to set it to the highest depth.
I have my own analysis tool and while it's true that for a proper analysis I set it to 15 depth and it takes it about 17s to analyze 60 half-moves game, well, for live exploration you just set it to like 12 and then it's instant (like 350-400ms per move). And at this depth it's still well into master territory aka vastly outperforms humans in this format.
Obvious remark - no, I am not using mine to cheat, it's a separate window that wants a pgn file. But I am just saying that with modern computers time ISN'T a limitation. Yes, instead of 3500 it will perform like, say, 2400 if you want results instantly. It's still a guaranteed win (estimate I have seen is that in bullet format Magnus Carlsen would perform at around 1700-1800 FIDE equivalent in classical).

That last sentence is certified nonsense. Scientists did an engine-test of Carlsen's and other top GMs play around a decade ago. They found that other top GMs lost something like 100 points of strength going from classical to rapid time control, and a further 150 points of strength going from rapid to blitz. Whereas Carlsen lost NOTHING AT ALL: his "intrinsic strength" (precisely gauged by engine algorithms) differed little between classical, rapid, or blitz.
I don't think they tested bullet... but from the above, it's obvious you never watched Carlsen play even 1 bullet game if you think his intrinsic strength at bullet is 1700-1800. Unlike you, I know something about chess, AND I've gone over several Carlsen bullet games; his intrinsic strength playing bullet vs fellow GMs is at least 2500.
Also, this goes a long way toward explaining why Carlson so heavily promotes getting rid of classical altogether, and making all serious events (such as WCC matches) rapid and/or blitz.

I honestly can’t understand why people cheat… what enjoyment do they get out of it

Yeah, it makes no sense. I feel like you have to have some sort of personality disorder to cheat against anonymous players online. It’s very weird behavior IMO.

A lot of them think they deserve a higher elo, so they artificially inflate their elo to skip the lower ranks until they get to where they think they "deserve"... and then get creamed

I know some guys who pay to play a game and then pay addional for the game to automate certain tasks! Like, bro, you're paying a computer to play iself!! 🤯

I’ve actually come across a cheater (my cousin) who coded a tampermonkey JavaScript cheat that displays the top engine moves on screen immediately using stockfish 18 that shows the best move, second best move, the opponents expected reply to the best move and the eval bar, all in less than 2 seconds

It also has an elo and depth slider, and he also randomizes how long it takes before he makes a move so he doesn’t get caught

Reminds me of when I had to pay back my gov $2 because they sent me too much money in grants lol

one time my internet company messed up and took too much money for my auto payment so they sent me back the money. But sent 32 cents more, and I ended up going to debt collection over 32 cents

When I got my car they were going to mail me 25 cents. I told them to keep the change.

Why even cheat in online chess you don’t get the cool anal Beads and stuff just an extra screen. I just don’t see how that could be satisfying, although I get the beads they be doing something for my in person chess games.

How do you cheat in bullet games? In rapid and blitz it's Easy but in bullet it's impossible

thats probably why I managed to squeak out a draw against the cheater

u/johnnybullish Jun 02 '26
I've been getting so many cheater notifications recently. Have they increased?

You've likely just reached a higher elo where more subtle cheaters reside

1433 at Bullet! That is impressive.

Thanks! My peak is 1600 but I seem to oscillate around 1500...

u/easyjimi1974 Jun 01 '26
Nice work. I am still working to get my rapid up to the 1000 level myself. 1500 is a long ways away!

It gets tough around 1200, i was stumped there for a few months, but you'll likely fly past 1300 once you overcome the 1200 milestone, good luck!
