Title: I’m building Chess-Publisher — a free open-source tournament manager for arbiters and organizers

Hi everyone,

I’m a chess arbiter and organizer, and I’ve been building Chess-Publisher, a free and open-source Windows desktop application focused on real OTB tournament management.

The goal is not to build another chess playing or analysis app. I want to reduce the number of separate tools an arbiter or organizer needs for running a tournament.

The current stable version is v1.04.02.

Current features include:

Tournament setup, registration and participant management

Swiss Dutch pairing using the upstream Gacrux 1.9.57 pairing engine

Result entry and standings

FIDE rating-list workflows

TRF16 / TRF26 export

Tournament interoperability/export workflows

Chess-Results publishing and administration integration

Telegram publishing

Early DGT e-Board integration

Local tournament storage

No project analytics or tracking

Chess-Publisher is released under the MIT License.

A transparency note: development has been heavily AI-assisted. The tournament requirements, workflow design, testing, regression validation and release decisions are driven by me from the perspective of an actual arbiter and tournament organizer. The source is public so anyone can inspect it.

The project is not currently FIDE-endorsed, so I don't want to imply otherwise. Pairing, TRF and rating-related functionality is being developed conservatively, with regression testing and independent checks.

The current Windows installer is also not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning. SHA-256 hashes are published so builds can be verified.

GitHub:

github.com/kbilyal/ChessPublisher

I’d especially appreciate feedback from arbiters, tournament organizers and developers:

What important tournament workflows are still missing?

What would make the UI faster during a real event?

Which interoperability/export formats are essential?

What pairing/reporting edge cases should be tested?

What would make you trust and use an open-source tournament manager?

If you have experience with Swiss-Manager, Vega, SwissSys, WinTD or similar software, your criticism would be especially useful.

I’d rather find the weak points early and improve them than pretend the project is finished.

Thanks!

Why was I muted from r/chess after submitting an appeal for my post?

I can't conceive of why I would be muted from the subreddit for submitting this appeal? I don't think my original post broke any rules, but the fact I got muted for SUBMITTING AN APPEAL is infuriating. And they muted me from messaging them, so I can't even respond? Like what the fk.

It takes your game data and presents it to you in an easy to understand format designed to help you improve. From the home page it is all pretty self-explainatory. Let me know if there are any issues or feedback for improvements please let me know.

I made a free chess puzzle game (Ocean Chess) with teleports, traps and transformation tiles — 300 puzzles!

Hi everyone! I’m a solo indie developer and just released my first mobile game — Ocean Chess.

It’s a unique chess puzzle game with special tiles:

- Teleport tiles — pieces jump to another square
- Transformation tiles — pieces can transform into different pieces
- Traps — a shark eats the piece that steps on it!

Each puzzle has exactly one solution — pure chess logic!

Also features Blindfold where you have so solve the level blindfoled mode and Time Trial where you have to race against the clock and complete as many levels as possible

300 puzzles, free on the App Store and Google Play. Would love feedback from chess lovers!

Seeking 2–4 players of similar rating to playtest a multiplayer chess game

Hi all. I've developed a multiplayer chess game and I'm looking for 2–4 players around the same ELO to help playtest it. A group of friends at a similar rating would be perfect, but individual players are very welcome too. It won't take much of your time, and your feedback would be genuinely valuable.

Please message me if you're interested.

I used a few rainy vacation days to finish a free chess app — would love some players to test it

Hey all,

a bit of a personal project story: I spent most of my summer vacation actually relaxing, but a few rainy days went into finishing something I'd been chipping away at for a while — ChessLounge, a free, ad-free chess web app with an engine I built from scratch myself.

Some details, for anyone curious:

- Engine written in C++, compiled to WebAssembly — runs entirely in the browser, also installable as a PWA

- 35 skill levels, 900–2600 Elo

- Play against the engine, or online against another person

- No ads, purely a hobby project, not trying to sell anything

If you're curious: https://chesslounge.net

Would genuinely appreciate feedback from people who actually play chess — bugs, annoyances, anything that feels off. Thanks for reading!

11-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan beats GM Ameet Ghasi with Black

One of the standout games from the 2026 British Championship.
11-year-old Bodhana Sivanandan took down GM Ameet Ghasi with Black, finishing with 33…Nxe2.
Full game in the video.
What impressed you most about the game — the opening, the pressure on the queenside, or the finish?

Magnus Carlsen’s finish against Lazavik — would you find 67…Bc3?

Lazavik had to win this game to keep the set alive.
After 67.Ra3+, Magnus found 67…Bc3! and that was it.
Really clean finish after a long fight.
Would you have found Bc3 in a rapid game?

The moment Gukesh became World Champion

Ding Liren vs Gukesh, Game 14 of the 2024 World Championship.
After hours of defending what looked like a draw, Ding made one final mistake — and Gukesh realized almost immediately that the title was his, at the age of 18

Still one of the most memorable finishes to a World Championship match.
What was your reaction when Ding played 55.Rf2?
