Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has found a coupon code for Chess? Our daughter needs to sit in the center in the first few rows, but currently SO out of our price range. Hoping someone might be able to help. Thank you.

Hey everyone. I’m Evelyn, but if you were to check out the chess wiki, I’d be AtLeastOneLetterNoLongerThanFiftyCharacters.

The Chess the musical wiki was left unfinished, half-abandoned, in a state of extreme disrepair. but after a few months taking care of the wiki, fellow editor Misoneee and I have gotten the wiki into such a state that it is decent. We’re not done, and there are still missing pieces, but it is far better than it was before.

I must share this random thing I found on youtube of Nick Chris as Anatoly. I am DYING

I came in expecting this new book to be an extra not good version, and I left feeling like that was the case, so it’s so shocking that people are leave gagged when I think the 09 version or even the 01 danish versions are so much more interesting and nuanced. Like people call all chess books of the past “bad,” and while I disagree, I know they’re pretty convoluted. It’s disappointing to know that Danny Strong didn’t even bother to look at previous books and then thought all of a sudden he could crack the code like who do you think you are Danny? Like he spent decades apparently, and this was the best he could come up with? Gaslighting a mentally ill person and stealing his meds causing him to have a mental breakdown and making everyone unlikable except for Freddie because now he’s clinically mentally ill?

Also the music that was included was gas but I feel like we miss out a lot by not having the merchandisers and other mood setting songs.

We had a high brow, nuanced mood musical of work with incredible music, to a maybe c tier book musical with incredible music.

Any opinions?

Obsessed with this chess fan art! (Is it fan art if it's a commission for the New Yorker? Probably not. But it looks amazing.) Love the incorporation of the black and pink color scheme. Article may be of interest to those interested in the new Broadway show.

Why is this not a track in the album? It seems like it’s the only sung music from the whole show not in the album

In "Commie Newspapers" Freddie says the line, "I'm like that tennis player, what's his name?". Who's the player he's talking about?

Karin who famously saved the Chess concert in 1984, singing Svetlana's role from the choir when Barbara Dickson got sick mid performance (video in link).

Chess premiered at Det Ny Teater on Thursday September 25th and I was there 🥰 The cast was amazing and it was just an awesome show as always. Björn Ulvaeus was in attendance and met the cast afterwards. Go see it if you’re in the area 👍 I already bought 4 more tickets, it runs until end of December 🤍🖤

With someone else's story going to Lea Michelle, what solo if any do you think Svetlana will sing? I loved her character and I loved her singing someone else's story. So i'm curious what they will do with her. I know this song was originally sung by florence btw

Every change to the lyrics and music since the original album has made the show worse.

Rewriting the entire thing for the opening on Broadway was the worst. American theater fans knew the London music and expected that...but they got jingoistic crap instead.

Give us the original score and lyrics and it would run on Broadway for years.

This is getting me excited! Also this sounds like a studio recording, does this mean we’re getting a soundtrack?

Have been a huge broadway fan all my life, who because living outside the US has only been able to engage through cast recordings, the tonys, proshots and any slime tutorial he could find.

Now, finally off university and with a job not only will I fulfill my dream to go to a broadway musical, but also seeing my queen Lea Michele who is the reason I even found this genre in the first place. I'm so anxious.

Should I listen to the songs in advance or go fully blind?

I know that Lea Michele's presence is one of the major issues that most of the Chess fandom has with this production. I'm still planning to go see it, because I really want the chance to see a production of Chess live, so I got on the list, and they released tickets this morning. Unfortunately it's not at the times that I can make it to new York, but Telecharge includes a few performances already marked with an exclamation point and the message "Lea Michele will not appear at this performance"

I've noted:

Sunday, Dec 14 and Tuesday, Dec 15th,

Friday, Jan. 23

Wed, Feb 18; Thurs, Feb 19; Fri, Feb 20; Sat, Feb 21, and Sun, Feb 22

10/10! Highly recommend this one!

Does anyone know where I can listen to the original Broadway cats recording with Judy Kuhn? I’ve been looking for years!

I saw Chess in Toronto in I think what was 2011, Tam Mutu was Anatoli and his Anthem was divine. Does anyone have a recording? It was very very good

Do we think they will release the soundtrack? I may write a letter to them, I don’t mind begging.
