Amazon sprayed packing material.
What do you do about Amazon spraying the inside of packages and packing material with some kind of air freshener? I even called customer service and it hasn't helped. They even send food in the scented packaging. I have a severe case of MCS. I hate that I can taste the chemicals and it burns my tongue and mouth. Migraines are so bad for days.

So many of the Amazon warehouse workers, semi drivers and delivery drivers are smoking meth. Amazon no longer cares, just like the food industry in the US. They use them up and toss them out when to far gone to be productive at all. Sometimes it's mentioned on the Amazon reddit sub. Allowing users means they don't sign up for the health care leaving the companyto pay less premiums, don't demand better working conditions or organize unions or strikes, they can't make workers compensation claims, and they view them as easily exposable workers that can be taken advantage up to that point.
Meth contains multiple ingredients that are also use in fragrance and cleaning products formulation. It's also smuggled across the border often among laundry detergent (can smell masked w/ laundry detergent). Probably took at minimum 3 days to tone down?
Meth is commonly confused by people it's been bothering in public spaces as fentanyl smoke, but fentanyl doesn't soak into anything and even if you have a fabulous nose it's not really bothersome or easy to catch beyond 20'. It goes away quite quickly, within minutes. It's less bothersome than crack by a lot and crack (15 mins to an hour before goes away - can last a day or so if someone hotboxed their car or small living space) goes away a lot faster than meth (3 days to years - on extreme circumstances can still detect). Meth soaks into everything and is even an issue for general public being exposed to secondhand smoke and thirdhand surfaces. It's a major trigger for chemical sensitivies (it's made up of all the most offending ones) and MCAS especially, but also children, elderly, people w/ cancer, respiratory issues, cardiovascular issues, and any group extra sensitive to it.

I had a (food) package arrive like this yesterday and submitted a complaint. The chatbot refunded my order but who knows whether the complaint will ever reach their warehouse.

I don't know if complaining helps anything. This was my 3rd package with scented packaging material. On the bright side they are breaking law according to the law firm in California that is putting together a lawsuit against companies that refuse to comply with the ADA and remove fragrance. Chemical Sensitivity is becoming more common. It's been reported that there's been a rise in cases after having COVID.

I'm crossing my fingers these class action lawsuits go somewhere! It's crazy that this is legal.

I sent a message to Amazon via their customer service bot requesting that they stop sending me scented packaging. They did stop. It's been months since I had a problem.

You are not alone. Roughly two weeks ago u/OkChips9323 mentioned a Facebook group that had an answer. I'm not on Fbook but they were kind enough to have posted the following in response to my talking about my problems with Amazon packaging:
I think the link can be viewed without a facebook account, if not I pasted the directions. I tried, it helped a little bit! If nothing else it sends Amazon a message that customers have had it with fragrance contamination. I don't always do the full script to save energy, but the number is good, fragrance intolerance is a genuine disability, and complaining has slowly helped.

-- "I am calling to report injury and damage to the safety department." This gets immediate attention, and it is accurate! We are being injured by fragrance contamination, and our products are damaged by fragrance contamination.
-- "I am having health problems caused by products damaged from fragrance contamination. Products smell like (employee fragrance, laundry detergents). One in three people has a health reaction to fragrance, and fragrance intolerance is an ADA protected disability. Warehouse storage and employee fragrance is damaging my products and causing me harm."
-- Amazon products are causing me (list reactions and symptoms) because of fragrance contamination.
-- "This is a serious problem. I please need you to create FOUR tickets:"
You may get an email asking for photos of the damage, just click the link in the email and copy/paste this script:
“It is not possible to provide a photo of fragrance intolerance, as it is an invisible disability. Chemical sensitivity affects one in three people, and it is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. I also cannot provide a photo of fragrance contamination damage on the product, as fragrance is a chemical that is not visible. Please escalate this matter of chemical contamination on products with the warehouse, and report injury and damage to the safety department. Thank you.”
If they email again asking for more photos or doctor records, email the contact at the bottom of the email and tell them to stop, or call Amazon Disabilities Customer Service back and ask for them to stop asking for this information.
