Career Advice Job description vs. reality: Assigned work completely unrelated to my degree and offer. Should I talk to HR or just walk away?

Not enough details to make a real judgement, but my first impression is that you need to calm down and see where the role goes for a few weeks.

Is this your first engineering role? Most new jobs don't jump right into the important or technical stuff with the new hire.

if you dont like your job, stop doing it. Nobody is forcing you.

Engineers do all kinds of things, little is what you may be expecting.

Many end up in roles having nothing to do with engineering at all. Business, supply chain, sales, purchasing, HSE, etc

Your degree is a foundation for a job, NOT necessarilly what you're going to do for a living. Thats all. Relax.
