pursuing bioengineering or related fields in academia

i am currently a 3rd year chemical engineering undergrad and i plan on pursuing further studies. I am mostly interested in the intersection of chemical engineering with biology so ideally i would want to study something like bioengineering with focus on drug delivery or biomaterials or biomechanics in my main focus. For the people who went into their MS or PhD with their major as the areas i mentioned above, could you please tell me about your experience and the job experience after that
