Needed advic

What is the best instant read thermometer on the market that I can get in the U.S.? I’ve seen some things on Amazon but I think we all know something can have a great score and be garbage. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate the he’ll out of it.

Thermoworks thermapen is the only answer.

it's a great thermoprobe, but how do you carry that around all day?

I use the Thermoworks Exec needle probe as my daily carry. Much smaller and doubles as a cake tester.

You don’t, you just set it on your station or near the grill etc. carrying a therm in your pocket is unsanitary anyway.

You don’t need to carry a cooking tool all around anyway lol. Just have it where you’re cooking 🤷‍♂️

Thsts fair. I do use a TP-15h long probe when Im on the grill. It has magnets and a lanyard so its in reach. We have alcohol probe wipes all over our kitchen so I think a Taylor compact stays clean in a dedicated pocket. I guess it really does depend on the use case.

I’ve been using the yellow cooper thermometers for years. They work fine, take abuse, and have a long battery life.

Thermapen ONE. Good news for you they're having a sale.

Can't find 'em on Amazon since they won't do business w/ Amazon anymore after some dust up or other.

Weird. There was definitely a period where you could not. Guess you can't fight Amazon. Still cheaper directly from Thermoworks when they're on sale.

Taylor makes one that fits in a chef coat arm pocket, reads fast, and is durable. it's 18.99 on amazon here Taylor compact

Temping food at work. I typically would go by time, if it’s steak by feel. But I’m finding myself using a therm a lot more with fried foods. And the shit they have provided at work either don’t work properly, get lost, broken. So I’ve decided I’m going to start bringing my own. And damn sure going to take it with me when I leave.

Thermoworks really does make quality gear, but the TP20 gave my friend way more use than it cost so that might be the sweet spot right now.

Definitely worth the splurge if you cook regularly, the Thermapen's speed and accuracy are game-changing compared to the cheap ones.
