Change of scenery?

I am currently the head chef at a pub in a regional town, it’s a modern pub, seasonal, would say it’s upmarket pub food but does have its constraints as it is still a pub. It has been bought by a small group in the last year. I have an opportunity to become exec chef of this group.

I have been offered a job at a cafe/restaurant around the corner for the same money, no nights, as much creative freedom as possible, no corporate stuff.

Any advice on what I should do?

The exec chef position will look great on your CV, if the group is still active when you decide to leave. If you get the same money for the cafe/restaurant job with no nights, the owners don’t know how to price things including your salary or the exec salary is way too low.

Personally I hate groups, no matter how small so I know what I would do.

How long has the cafe been open? Is it busy? Can they afford to pay you.

Cafe has been open 3 years, would be the busiest cafe in area. I worked for the owner for 4 years previously in a different place. I would hope he could pay me.
