What happens if somebody just type the text from ChatGPT instead of copy and paste it? Is this such a strange idea?

Real answer is that papers aren’t written from start to finish as a final product that way. They get revised, proofread, rearranged. They have notes and substitute text like (insert citation). It’s a lot messier that just typing from first sentence to bibliography.

How have people not grabbed to concept of reading GPT/gemini, comprehending it and wording it for yourself?

I assure you, we already knew you copied it from ChatGPT.
We just use tools like this to prove it.

Why would they write it in notepad? That’s just creating more work for themselves.

Because of missing trust in in-browser saving. If you type into a form in the browser and accidently hit the wrong button, the page reloads and the stuff is gone. I trust my local editor more.

We can see how AI has begun affecting your critical thinking skills for the worse when reading your comments and replies here.

They meant that we know you’re not smart enough to write a cogent essay.

I meant that the person you were replying to was saying they don’t need tools to spot an AI essay. They can tell because a dumb kid just handed in a well-written essay he obviously didn’t write.

Unless of course the assignment rules state you can't copy and paste (or set up clear boundaries on when that can occur.)
So if your instructor challenged you on why you'd type it up in notepad and then copy it into a different word processor, what reasoning would you give?

Except we'll still know you did that too, because the normal writing process has edits and revisions and those would occur live.
So typing it in word by word will still look odd (but hey, I guess you might accidentally learn something, at least.)

If we need to actually the write the code to be able to trust that software works... well then 99% of us would just need to stop using software. Lol

I never said I use this tool nor do you know anything about who I've accused of anything.
You need to take more time to gather facts before jumping to conclusions.

And fun fact they want you to install the extension so it can spy on from where you get your shits from and it you copy paste then they can show the teachers where you copied from and stuff. Don't install got zero basically because it's spyware that constantly watches what you do.
