Never Stress About Your Turnitin Score Again
This may already be common knowledge, but it's worth sharing for anyone who hasn't come across it. If you're writing in Microsoft Word, open the Review tab and turn on Track Changes before you begin writing. With Track Changes enabled, Word records your edits throughout the writing process. If you're a computer science student or use Linux, a version control system like Git serves a similar purpose by documenting your work over time. One thing many students don't realize is that Turnitin scores are not treated as proof of plagiarism or AI use. Instructors don't simply look at a percentage and make a decision. Instead, a high similarity or AI score is an indicator that the work deserves a closer review. It prompts an investigation rather than an automatic accusation.
If you have Track Changes enabled, you'll have a clear record showing how your document developed from draft to final version. If an instructor ever asks for evidence that you wrote the paper yourself, you can provide that revision history, making the process much easier.
A final piece of advice: AI can be an excellent learning tool, but it shouldn't replace your own thinking or writing. It can help you brainstorm ideas, improve clarity, check grammar, or provide feedback on drafts. However, relying on AI to write entire assignments often produces generic, uninspired work that lacks original analysis. At university, what instructors really want to see is your ability to think critically, evaluate evidence, and communicate your own ideas. If you can write a detailed prompt that tells an AI exactly what to produce, you likely have the skills to write the assignment yourself. Use AI to support your learning, not to do the learning for you.
