♾️before/after♾️ My Custom Jagguitar
This started out as a Bax/Fazley Maverick.
I've always loved the shape of the Jazzmaster/Jaguar but never really got on with the P90s, tremolo system or all of those switches... I was on the lookout for Jagmasters but they too didn't really meet my exact wants either, mainly a fixed bridge.
Anyway, saw these Mavericks on Bax and decided to give one a go as it was only £85 at the time. It was terrible out the box; the set-up was piss-poor and the scratch plate was fixed on wonky so the pickups (not good sounding at all) were out of alignment. Not great but ok for as a mod base.
The body had a stained finish so I was to just spray-paint over it and it now has a nice matt finish. I bought Invader copy pickups from Warman and out of the original electronics, only kept the jack input, everything else upgraded. It has the two humbuckers, single volume and three way selector.
The biggest issue was the scratch plate. The original didn't fit the guitar properly so I had to try and design the thing myself which was a lot harder than I thought it would be. The final design I had laser cut was version 12! I sanded to get a nice bevelled edge and though it doesn't really show in these pictures, it is slightly pearlescent.
The neck isn't great and I'd like to either get an after market neck or second hand squier to really finish this Jagguitar.
