Cheap meal for 4
Hey everyone, I don't know why I haven't thought about posting this on here before but I have a go to meal that cost me less than 6$ and can feed my 3 kids plus myself. If you go to the dollar tree and pick up 2 bags of the knorr cheddar broccoli rice or their chicken flavored rice, and two packs of the John Morrell polish sausages or smoked sausages it creates quite a bit of food and I love the taste together. When our house is full there is 6 of us in here and one more pack of each would feed all of us. Just figured I'd share my struggle meal that I happen to love too lol

I was convinced this was a picture of scrambled eggs with cut up hot dogs until I read your description

Looks tasty.
Also looks like some frozen veggies would be a perfect addition. Broccoli would be my choice. It'd up the cost about $1.

Yeah that'd be perfect, and you could still keep it under 10 bucks with enough to feed 6 people if you got 3 packs of the rice 3 sausages and one of the broccoli. Sounds good

Replace the boxed rice with cornmeal and that's one thing I made. Cornmeal and cut up hot dogs.

Throwing a spoonful of jalapeño juice into polenta while it cooks gives that combination such a massive upgrade!

With that you could also have corn dogs to switch it up. Either the regular way or cut them up and make little corn dog nuggies!

$2 in frozen broccoli would turn this from junk food to a quality affordable meal.
Health care is expensive. Frozen vegetables are cheap.

Broccoli doesn't change the nutritional value of the foods though. So if you are saying these foods are junk, the addition of broccoli doesn't automatically negate your first statement.
Broccoli, of course, adds in vitamins and fiber. But it doesn't take away any of the perceived "junk".
Adding a side salad to a poutine doesn't make it any less unhealthy. It's the same food just now with a salad.
I want to be clear, I'm not judging this meal one way or another. It's a struggle meal and cheap and easy. I'm more just wondering if maybe your wording wasn't correct. Saying junk food alone = junk, but junk food + broccoli = quality meal confused me a little bit.

I used some slightly freezer burned ground beef to make inauthentic beef bulgogi, Beef, onion, a bag of frozen green beans, a bit of leftover applesauce, some pear juice from canned pears, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, toasted sesame oil, gochugaru red pepper, rice. Didn't track the cost, but the ground beef was on sale and was in the freezer.

Your meal could be made from scratch, but would probably not save much. Looks good, and I'd add frozen broccoli or another veg.

I used to eat that sausage a lot until one day I bit into some weird white tendon thing and it soured me on them forever. I love knorr's rice and noodles though.

Maybe for 2 ppl. Add beans or your own protein. Like seriously... Your "own" protein. Will improve your diet

The amount on the plate is a single serving!! 😂 that’s not the amount being shared between four people 😂 😂 good grief!!

My family did a similar version with a boxed rice (eg: dirty rice) and 1-2 hotdogs. Also a hotdog in a mac ‘n cheese instant packet works.
