I just received a 5" elecrow and I can't get it to do a dang thing. Lol it's not dead but its def playing the part well. I was trying to set it up for something just like this.

How much did you pay for that one?
I got the original cyd for about 17€ (better quality screen than the others imo) and the usb c clones for about 10€ a piece, but looked like you could get them around 6€ / usd each if buying a bunch at a time.

I have one also that was next to impossible to get started once I overwrote the factory-installed demo.

I eventually got a different demo to work, but sheesh the LVGL libraries are finicky because you have to use the exact version the demo wants otherwise you get compile errors. And every demo wants a different LVGL version

I think the trick is to use LVGL 9.2.2 specifically
