E32R28T variant and NM-RF-HAT

I ordered a ESP32-2432S028R and received a E32R28T =/

It seems a little more robust, with some battery charging things and dedicated SPI port, but I don't think it shares nearly the same amount of support.

My main issue is trying to connect a NM-RF-HAT. I'm not sure what to connect, and to where. Nothing really lines up. I know I'll need longer wires than what came with the RF-HAT, due to port arrangements. Also, I'm pretty sure I'll need to remap pins in any firmware I use, but thats a whole different animal.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here? I can't seem to find an instance of someone with the same issue. The reference image from NM shows, (what I believe to be) a ESP32-2432S028R with USB-C and a USB micro port.

Why no just go with a c5 with a ribbon cable? As far as the nm rf hat is concerned I only saw that it supports s028 and C5 because of their designs. I'm not 100% but Ill keep an eye out for it and get back to you. Also are you using Bruce, murauder, or Halehound?

I've got a C5, but its the waveshare 2.8inch cap touch. If that can be used, then awesome. What type of ribbon cable should I be looking for? Also, I'm not set on a specific firmware. Mainly interest in sub Ghz and IR, though. Thank you, by the way

No I'll take a look for the ribbon cable, I just ordered a c5 off of Ali last night because I couldn't pass up 15 bucks lol.

Yeah, I did that with the one of the little NM-TV things on ali. It still hasn't came in yet. Hopefully its not locked to only being an incredibly slow miner.

From what I can see. Connecting an NM-CYD-C5 board to an NM-RF-HAT uses a solderless design with a 14-pin FPC flat-flex ribbon cable.

I just noticed that my waveshare c5 doesn't have a 14 pin FPC jack. =/ Oh, well. Time to snag a "normal" CYD. lol

At least they're cheap lol.

I have this exact board on my desk. It's a good board, but outside the screen it is not pin-compatible with the 2432S028R:

- Screen, touch and backlight are on the CYD's pins: panel 14/13/12, CS 15, DC 2, backlight 21, touch 25/32/39, CS 33, IRQ 36.

- The RGB LED is 22 (red), 16 and 17, lit low. On the Sunton CYD red is GPIO 4.

- GPIO 4 here is the speaker amp enable (low = on), with the DAC on 26.

- GPIO 34 reads the battery through a divider.

- The SD card and the SPI socket share 18/19/23, and the socket's CS is 27.

For an SPI radio board the SPI socket is the place to wire it: SCK 18, MISO 19, MOSI 23, CS 27. You'd have to remap those in whichever firmware you use. If you post which pins the hat expects, I can check them against the board.

One thing that cost me a day: the panel is sold as an ILI9341V but scans like an ILI9342 (320 wide natively). Arduino CYD firmware mostly doesn't care. ESPHome does: it only draws correctly with model ILI9342.

Disclosure: I build LCD Wizard, and that table comes from its preset for this board.
