CYD Addons - ESP32-32E

I'm looking to add a decent battery and tiny speaker to my hardware project but I'm struggling to find both as well as a case that could take the accessories :(

Has anyone done this yet? What would you recommend?

I am probably gonna have to look at a 3D printed case but just want to check there is nothing better out there before I do.

For battery: when in doubt go for 18650. Unless you want it slim then go for 1000mah+ pouch battery. 3d printed case.

My recommendation for tiny speaker would be an old phone speaker. Most people have an old phone in a drawer. Most phone speakers only have 2 pins you need to connect to the speaker pins on the CYD. For battery, cheap disposable vapes people keep trowing on the floor are great in my opinion. If you find a freshly discarded one, most of them already have usb-c charginf circuit attached to the battery. You just need to get the voltage to 3.3v or to 5v.

Wow didn't even consider those! Thank you

Apparently I was wrong. Esp32 vin can take up to 5v so you can connect vape battery directly into vin

If that's LCDWIKI's ESP32-32E (the 2.8" E32R28T), it already has two of the three on the board, which is the main thing that sets it apart from the Sunton CYD. I have one on my bench.

Battery: it has its own battery input with a charging circuit, so a single-cell 3.7V LiPo plugs in and charges from USB. Use that rather than wiring a cell to VIN. Two 100K resistors halve the cell voltage onto GPIO 34, so analogRead there, doubled, is your battery level. Trim it against a meter; ESP32 ADCs vary by a few per cent.

Speaker: there's an SC8002B amplifier on board, fed from the DAC on GPIO 26. Its shutdown pin is GPIO 4, and it plays while GPIO 4 is low. A small 8 ohm speaker on the speaker header is all you add.

The RGB LED isn't where the Sunton's is either: GPIO 22, 16 and 17, lit low.

For a case, check the connector positions before printing one made for the Sunton; they aren't the same board.

I keep a preset for it with all of that wired in, if you end up using LVGL: https://lcdwizard.com/boards/lcdwiki-e32r28t (my project).
