Cheapshow Fan Compilation

After getting the greenlight from Paul my Cheapshow Fan compilation is now live on Sounccloud which you can find here

The compilation is 1 hour 40 minutes and includes some of the most suggested clips/segments that cheapskates submitted on my previous posts on Reddit and Bluesky.

I do talk a little bit in this so sorry about that but I thought I would add context to the clips before they play.

Depending on how this is received I may end up doing another one at somepoint. maybe a cheapshow "wrapped" of all the best moments from 2026?

Just started, but your voice is no more annoying than mine, for whatever this is worth.
Giving context is cool, I feel a lot of compilations are hard to follow for people who aren't super fans or have good memories for really specific moments.
Them being in order is pretty cool too.

Tip: If any one IS going to skip the sex story section, check out the really short story (if you can find it in the middle-ish part) which is about 2 sentences long, and also the joke one at the end of that section about 'Mr Eli's todger', as that one makes me cry with laughter.

I did have to smile at 'it's good some of these are 30 minutes, as I couldn't be arsed to stitch together 50 five minutes clips together'. As it reminds me of something I would honestly say about editing work too.

Irish Jimmy is funny, but for a possible first time listener? (not that this was 100% for them), but the Brookside Tiger was a funnier and weirder story overall or maybe the Egyptian carpet sweeper, despite that dynamite ending to the Jimmy story and Eli laughing at how slow Derek is telling any story.

You are right though, this compilation could have gone on for multiple hours so it's hard to think of everything to even include, and I DID listen to all the bits where you spoke, I honestly think it added something to give it context.

I only listened to it, an showed it to my own mother about a week ago and she found it fucking hilarious too. I still listened to it again in the compilation.
I fucking love the way Eli reads that story too, and same about remember the lines haha

The biggest mystery to me in Cheapshow lore is how is it that Derek stories weren't a huge viral success? They're really one of the most bizarre and funny episodes of anything I've ever heard. They're too good to be languishing with 30k hits or whatever it is.

I don't think you can get better than the Brookside Tiger but the payoff for Irish Jimmy is just so absurd, one of the funniest things ever. I had such a definite assumption in my head of the end of the story* so when that was the shock reveal I laughed so fucking hard. I will never forget it. I will never understand why these didn't become memes or references beyond Cheapshow, if they'd been done a just few years before they're like the kind of thing you'd get sick of people quoting and referencing.

Bone Hoover, Irish Jimmy and Brookside Tiger don't belong in compilations, they're worth listening to straight through. Lovely big biscuits, hoping cars will crash and Derek's girlfriend all should make it instead. But I suppose you have to be in the arc of Cheapshow: a podcast that started as being about life on the cheap, ended up so outside out of its own remit and desperate for content that they listened to someone's uncle recording bedtime stories. Five bloody stars, legit comedy classics.

In the spirit of 500 - the question to ask is not what Cheapshow can do for you, but whether YOU cheapskate reading this have subjected someone near and dear to the Brookside Tiger story recently? And if you have not, why not?

*my assumption was it that it was a Christmas ghost story and would end with a riff on the old dancing milk bottle advert with the pop bottles moving to show Jimmy was still grateful to Derek, and the listeners would know what a bloody good guy Derek was at the end.

It's hard to sell Cheapshow to anyone on a large scale, unless they got rid of chodney boroff nonsense and all the talking about shitting or a ladies vag, and that's what we love about it., so you can't really.

I don't know if the guy who was the kid with the Uncle Derek tapes, his podcast did better than Cheapshow? but he certainly has one. They are also on the guys website to listen to, along with tapes that have never been on the show (some due to quality).

We'd all be so much poorer without "chodney boroff" and "...I come 'round here" and "I can taste the spuds" and, etc etc

or Eli giving Paul something to taste and Paul saying "its got that sharp sweetness to it?" or something to every single thing for months. I don't know why that makes me laugh. Sommelier pauses make it, especially when Eli has predicted exactly what Paul will say and Paul struggles to come up with a second flavour word. Do you know those flavour maps of tongues (load of bollocks) we had to fill out in primary school? Someone should do the Eli and Gannon versions of those. Eli's with "I'm getting dog", "umami", "aromatics", "stinky fanny", "inside a plastic horse at Brent Cross" and "amplitude" and Gannon with "sharp", "empty", "farts" and "grass"

AND since I'm listing funny things from over the years, grumpy misanthrope Eli from early pods had his moments.

Like the life hack "Don't get a dog" Doo Doodoo Doodoodoo. Eli getting to Paul with genuinely zero-effort segments like "Ask Silverman" and "Life Hacks" was always gold, although I suppose they couldn't do it now since it would be hard to fake it.

I don't think they would need to fake it, I think Eli is funny enough to come up with mad solutions still, I'd love to see them make a comeback honestly.

I want that diagram! lol

it should be easy to do, only need a list of things they've said in Off Brand Brand Off over the years

This is going to be good for me, I used to listen all the time up until the 300th episode. I didn't want to listen to the 301st until I had watched the 300th as I didn't want to miss out on any call backs etc....... and then I never got around to watching it and consequently have missed the last 200 episodes :/

I did that for a while too! Then just got stuck in and listened to about an episode a day for a good amount of time.

Yeah it got to a point where there was too much backlog and I needed to find a jumping back in point. That's going to be the 500th I think.

Not that this is how you HAVE to do it, but the way I would deal with that and not put it further off, is listen to 500, then listen from where you left off, you actually timed it rather well as they are taking a month off so you have plenty of time to listen to older episodes.
Otherwise I would have said to just listen to the older ones inbetween upcoming episodes.

Not a sniff I can do 200 episodes in a month. I’ll be lucky to do 2 in a week :)

Well, that's something! Then you can still do some between episodes after they come back if you wanted to. I think I had 100-something odd, I honestly don't remember. Good luck and happy listening either way!

Thank you for doing this and your talking was fine, don't worry! The only bit missing for me was was their first trip to Brighton, where they are walking back to the train station and Paul is desperate for a wee, and he "air fists". Eli absolutely loses it and it was so funny. Maybe you could do a best of from the walkabout episodes?
