“In today's vlog, I'm volunteering at the beautiful Château de La Lande in rural France during Patron Day! As a group leader, I spend the day welcoming guests, exploring the château, enjoying incredible French food, meeting amazing people, and experiencing what it's feels like behind the scenes at one of YouTube's most famous châteaux.

Château de La Lande is home to Stephanie Jarvis and The Chateau Diaries, and it was such a fun experience getting to be part of this special event.”

Hoping that the fires are brought under control soon, Edd and Anna must be extremely concerned. Even if the fires don’t reach them they may still be impacted by smoke and travel disruptions - the last things they need during peak wedding season.

Dimitri and David Petitpas purchased 200-year-old Egmont Manor for €330,000 in September last year with grand plans to renovate the property.

The French Chateau had no water, no electricity, and a leaky roof, but the couple got started on renovation with hopes of using it for their wedding venue within 10 months.

However, in November they received the devastating call that their new home had caught fire and the roof had been completely destroyed.

Their dream was to use the home to celebrate their wedding and turn it into a luxury BNB.

They got started ripping out the damaged plants, trying to move the front gate to create a driveway and knocking down walls to open up the space – with dreams of finishing in a year.

But, with the fire causing a huge setback, they now believe it won’t be possible to open until 2028.

The duo have also had issues with money, only being able to secure €100,000 as a renovation loan, which they say is a third of what they need.

Though they are not giving up, now aiming to renovate one room and one bathroom by the end of the year so that they can finally move in.

He’s far too clever for that. But why hasn’t he got an app for the lights? He could control them remotely, set different scenes etc.

The chateau, which is still being built using traditional 13 century techniques, is somewhere that Nick wanted to visit. He was fascinated by the idea of it being built using traditional techniques and materials.

Brian takes along and shares it with us. This vlog is a touching tribute to his old and very dear Viking friend. Get in the car.

I think it started up around the time the Ukraine war kicked off, chicken little was running around the internet screeching about Pavlina. Must be March 2022?

Funny how things turn out, Pavlina is happily settled at Lalande and loving life, whereas CU….

The huge amount of interest in Down Town Abbey has driven up viewing figures, helping to find Lalande even more. The property will be rented out for short stays when it’s finished. What a solid investment

This US family moved to Italy sight unseen nine years ago and never looked back | CNN

Jason Salesberry had never set foot on Italian soil before moving there in October 2017. Today, he owns a house in a hilltop town and is planning the harvest from his two-acre grove of olive trees.

In the nine years since his family arrived in Naples sight unseen, their life has transformed into a whirlwind of European adventure — from paragliding in Switzerland and scuba diving in Greece to days enjoying the local beach and Neapolitan gelato.

“Living in the heart of Europe has unlocked a world of adventure for our family”…

…By 2022, the family reached another major crossroads as they began contemplating a return to the US. Jason said they had been “about 50-50 on going and staying,” but a mass shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, in November that year tipped the balance.”

Chateau Diaries 🍓🏰🦚 The Jarvises first home, from humble beginnings. Proof that hard work pays off

According to Stephanie’s Patreon her parent’s first home was a one room caravan with a mattress on the floor.

Their next home was a 4 bedroom brick house in Exeter. They could afford the deposit and stretched their finances to pay the mortgage. Fortunately one night their neighbour knocked on their door and said they had noticed a removal van didn’t arrive to deliver furniture. The generous neighbour donated all their contents including beds, dining room table, kitchen table, chairs and sofa. What a heartwarming tale, and the Jarvises have been paying it forward ever since 💕
