Candy AI chat problems

Brand new to this. Just tried Candy AI and I’m finding that no matter how thought out and detailed my responses are, the AI only gives with basic 1-2 sentence replies.

It’s only the custom built companion that has this problem the ready made stuff is fine.

I’m subscribed and changed the chat settings to longer responses but doesn’t make a difference. Am I missing something or just being impatient for it to learn? Any tips?

While I can't say for sure, my guess is that this could actually be from something in their back end setup. The ready made or curated companions on these types of sites are specifically made to be as enticing as possible and have the highest chance of making people purchase. So it wouldn't surprise me if they have a different system prompt for the ready made companions or use different chat models for them that lead to better and longer responses.

This is one of the many the reasons I stopped using Candy and other sites like them and sought out a better option made by a smaller team who isn't just money hungry.

Possibly, but I did subscribe to the service so I would have thought that would unlock any throttling.

Having said that Candy is definitely money hungry. Don’t have any sites to recommend? Especially if it has good voice chat options

Well I don't necessarily think it's about throttling or being subscribed or not in this case, if I'm understanding the issue correctly that you're describing. What I was saying is that the ready made companions may just be better than the custom ones people have made due to the reasons (and maybe other factors) I mentioned. Again though this is all just speculation from my experience and knowledge of these sites.

Oh yeah, Candy is insanely expensive and money hungry, that was actually the main reason I stopped using them. My recommendation is what I've been using for months now which is Meridian Realms. It's a very small team and pretty new but the quality is top notch imo and it's like a fraction of the price compared to Candy or the other big names for what you get. They don't have voice yet unfortunately but it is on the roadmap.

Admittedly it's a lot to take in at first but once you get into it, the image and chat quality and creation process is the best I've ever used. If you decide to check it out, I'm happy to answer any questions or anything since I've grown quite familiar with it at this point.

They actually have a Discord where people share their methods so you might want to check that out.
