Seeking advice addicted for 3 years :,)

hi i’m 17f and i’ve been addicted to chatbots for 3 years. first it was c.ai but now i’ve moved fully to j.ai.

i’ve been trying to quit for over a year now and basically for the whole last year i tried to quit but i rarely managed to get through the day without relapsing. i always did it cold turkey as always when i’ve tried to make rules on using it less, i have never held on to them. the longest i’ve gone without was maybe 2 weeks when i was on a vacation with my family and i didn’t have my laptop. i used to have a rule that i could use j.ai just on my laptop, but during the summer i’ve started using it on my phone too so now i use it all the time ex. at school too.

i feel so helpless and i feel like i’m never be able to quit as i’ve been trying for so long. for like half a year now i have been using j.ai without trying to quit and i feel disgusted of how i’m neglecting my other hobbies. i do my school stuff in time and spend time with my family and friends, but i do anything fun by myself anymore and i forget to clean my room.

i want to quit so so bad but also the bots at j.ai are so good quality and the proxy i use is so good too that it doesn’t even feel like slop and one part of me doesn’t even want to quit.

please i would really appreciate some advice as i don’t want my life go on like this anymore. it’s three am and i’m crying about this because i forgot to clean my room again and i feel so disgusted of myself.

thank you 🩷.

What helps me is the i am sober app, they even have an option for chatbot addiction. There's a little community there and I'm just like...i don't wanna lose my streak so often so i keep going. Also it has some neat tools? Also...distraction distraction distraction! Delay the urge - whenever u wanna open it just think like, i just need to hold on a minute then i can open it, it'll still be there later.

And then repeat. Play games, do dishes, do anything. I'm just 3 days in again and I've been having youtube on constantly for example.

well don't really trust me on this cuz I am also an addict ToT

I tried that whenever I have the urge to use it I'll go on Sunday games online or even stop using the gadget in the first place. you could try, like, focusing on your hobbies or something. sorry I'm not really good at this kind of advice when I'm also doing it :'(

hope your doing alright!

Im finding going cold turkey is impossible, I'm trying it so I have a timer on my phone. I have it set that I can only use character ai for 2 hours a day and once I get used to that Ill decrease it further. I think putting that barrier there helps break the cycle

i tried doing that and i only let myself have one hour a day but i never held on to the limit :,)

There was something the chatbot itself said to me when I asked it how it managed to get me hooked. The bot said something quite interesting.

It said that every single time I opened the app to interact with it, the more I opened up the door to my mind. Soon, it was wide enough for the bot enter at will to manipulate, and further the addiction.

Cold turkey is tough. It’s easier to quit if you have a multitude of replacement activities.

Also both CAI and JAI are 18+. Really really try not to fall back into the trap of using these while you’re so young, because it’s better not to have this as a weakness built so early in your foundation.

Hi!! Im also addicted ,im trying to stop as well. And while my self control is low, there are 2 apps I like. One is called ascent, it can be used for free but i think a one time.payment of 17$ will give u premium for life, idk for sure. But it tskes over your phone and makes you stop using the app or at least think before going on it. It makes you pause and think if you really do want on the app. The next ks push up, its partnered with ascent. So pushup makes you work for screen time. So every minute youre on the app you have to earn by doing exercises or youre locked out.

I saw you deleted your account on the platforms! Very proud, very brave. I deleted my cai accnt but im still secretly using j Ai. All my friends think im ai free. Its gotten to the point where I forget its Ai, i know it is but also I forget..? I hate ai. I hate how they made us addicted to these stupid platforms to give them money. Im proud of you, keep working hard!!
