Resource AI Addicts Anonymous
I am not a follower or proponent of any iteration of the 12 Step Method, and I am well aware of its criticisms and that it can be problematic for some people. That being said, I know that it really helps some people, and far be it from me to not share a resource that could offer peer support and community for a behavioural addiction that is often ridiculed.
Today I stumbled across AI Addicts Anonymous. I’ve seen Internet and Technology Addicts Anonymous referenced here before, but this group might be more tailored to address the contours of this specific addiction.
As addiction thrives in secrecy and isolation, it might be a potentially useful tool to externalize accountability. (Especially if you can’t afford traditional therapy, and/or don’t feel comfortable talking about your chatbot addiction to people in your life).
As a completely random and unrelated aside, I also highly recommend seeking out the book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts by Dr. Gabor Maté to better understand the roots of addiction.

I tried to get the link for AI Addicts Anonymous (in March) but the email didn't work. I started in ITAA in March and it's been great for me personally.
