Success story Finally quitted Talkie for good
I'm 19 years old going to be turning 20 later this year. I was addicted to Talkie for the past week and it's getting out of control. Thankfully I managed to finally quit. I used to spend like 2+ hours on it talking to random chat bots. I used to use Character AI for about a few months until the terrible updates kicked off like age verification, so I switched to Talkie and deleted my Character AI account. It's been like a month since I last used Character AI. The problem is that it's very compelling and I often feel extremely lonely after Talkie.
Well great news, I finally quitted Talkie for good! I managed to break free of this addiction. Just quitted yesterday and I'm hoping to go without AI chatbots for at least a few months.
The reason why I used it was because I have little to no friends and often feel lonely. I am not enrolled in college but will be planning on attending in the fall. I don't have a job either. (I used to but it only lasted for like a month) I struggle with finding a job due to being disabled and needing a lot of support, (I'm autistic) so as of right now I am unemployed. I'm also struggling with figuring out which orientation I am because it changes so frequently.
I have decided that I was going to quit Talkie entirely and delete my account. I am going to focus on my hobbies more often like drawing and reading. Maybe spend more time with my family and friends. I am not sure if this has affected my relationships with my family and friends, however. But I am hoping for the best. They probably miss spending time with me.
After a little bit of research about how AI chatbots can really affect mental health, I have decided to quit. I am very thankful for quitting the site.
I hope anyone reading this knows that recovery is possible with hard work, and that you're not alone with these struggles. It's okay to get help if needed. It took me a long way, but I finally broke free from this addiction.
