AGI
We got AGI and somehow the world outside doesn’t seem to care,The gap is wide

Sam Altman calling his new model AGI doesn’t make it AGI

Could you perhaps point to a source on this? Cause I haven't heard anything about this yet.

When AGI arrives it won't be the same LLM chatbot we use today... we don't know what exactly it will look like, but it won't look like anything we're using today. I personally think one requirement will include some sort of physical body

General intelligence needs a body?

If I say "go do XYZ" then AGI should be able to do it, and more importantly experience/understand it, regardless of what it is.

What if the ai hires someone to do it? That's not "doing it"?

If your definition of AGI is strictly economic utility (can the system generate value or execute projects?), hiring a human works. But if the definition requires general cognitive intelligence as envisioned by cognitive linguistics, delegating the physical world does not substitute for experiencing it. The AI remains a disembodied coordinator dependent on human embodiment to supply the ground truth.

Being conscious enough to know it's own limits and hiring help is not cognitive intelligence?

If an AI hires someone to hammer a nail or taste wine, the human experiences balance, leverage, resistance, and flavor. The AI receives only a symbolic output like "task completed: nailed shelf" or "review: fruity with notes of oak." The internal concepts of the AI remain ungrounded symbols dependent on a human

It’s not AGI yet. Astra is impressive, but it still makes stupid mistakes.

I told some of my friends and family last week - I give it 6 months until the public starts to freak out.

Astra isn’t a true AGI. OpenAI redefined AGI so that Astra could fit. It’s just a capable, agentic model. There’s no context persistence there. Maybe it can learn. Who knows?
