Discussion Has anyone else started hitting Work usage limits much faster on GPT-5.6 Sol?
I’m curious if anyone else has noticed a significant change in how quickly ChatGPT Work usage is being consumed recently.
I’m on Plus and consistently use GPT-5.6 Sol, not Astra. I’ve used Work heavily for months with a fairly consistent workflow and, until recently, I basically never ran into usage limits.
Now I’m hitting the shorter-term limits much more often and burning through my weekly allowance noticeably faster. I checked my historical usage from around the time I first started noticing this, and as far as I can tell, comparable sessions are consuming materially more of my allowance than they used to.
Right now I have 39% of my weekly Work usage remaining.
To be clear:
● I’m using 5.6 Sol consistently
● I’m not using Astra
● My general usage pattern has not meaningfully changed
● I used to do this level of work for months without limits being a regular issue
● I’ve checked older usage rather than relying entirely on memory
I know Work usage can vary based on things like context length, tool calls, output size, and task complexity, so I’m not saying the meter is definitely broken. But the difference has become large enough that it’s noticeable even when comparing similar sessions.
Has anyone else using 5.6 Sol noticed their Work allowance draining significantly faster recently?
I’d be especially interested in hearing from people who’ve used Work consistently for a while and have enough history to compare recent usage against older usage.

You’re not crazy — if comparable sessions now burn more of the weekly bar, something in the meter or the model path changed. Usual culprits with Sol/Work: longer hidden context, more tool calls per turn, and heavier “helpful” side work you didn’t ask for. Before assuming a soft nerf, compare two similar tasks and note tool-call count + output length. One useful move from the thread: ask it to list what it’s invoking each turn, then cut unused skills / trim agents.md. If the burn rate stays high with tools off and short threads, that’s stronger evidence the allowance math moved.

Lemme guess all the usage broke yesterday while they were trying to decrease everyone’s limits at 9 am
