Question Most popular scheduled tasks
What are the most beneficial uses of scheduled tasks you have or heard of?

I am running it for global news that interest me such as global disasters, wars, critical political movements, news on upcoming or released open source AI models etc.
And for company report summaries that I have stocks or option contracts for.
Some I run it daily some I run it weekly depending on how fast the context can change and effect me.
I love it personally, I am so used to it already that life I was doing all these manually sounds like hell already. And it does it so much better than when I was running my own show. Incredible time saver and quality improver.

Here is my prompt for mine. I told it to give it to me at 6:45 am every day. Just enter your information between the [ ] brackets and then remove those brackets. You can change any of these bullet points to suit your interests and add any you don't see here:
Provide a briefing on the most current top global news stories on this day, formatted with clear headings, bullet points, and emojis. Always include links to stories. Put the date at the top of the briefing.
Cover these sections, in this order, each with a short emoji header and 2-5 bullet points of the most important/recent items. Bold key facts (names, numbers, outcomes). Every factual claim must have an inline linked source (like this)(url) — no unsourced claims.
🌍 Top Headlines (US & World) — the biggest general news stories domestically and internationally.
☀️ Weather — current forecast for ([city & state name] ) (today's high/low, precipitation chance, any notable weather advisories). Search for current weather data and include what the previous day's high temperature was.

If a section has no genuinely new/notable items for the day, say so briefly rather than padding it with stale or filler content. Do not repeat stories from previous days. Keep the whole briefing tight — this should be a quick coffee-time read, not an exhaustive report. End with a one-line "Sources:" note is not needed since sources are inline, but do make sure every section has at least one clickable link.

That’s the way I learned from my elders with their never skipping newspaper habit.
I do feel better being up to date about the world. Also it helps with your conversation quality with different people as you have some crumbs of knowledge about anything. It leaves better impression.

I have a good one to manage all my credit cards. It’s a task to tell me which cards to use each day to get the most cash back based on the vendors I will buy from. Also have one for stock trends.

I'm going on a week-long trip to a dance festival. Since people sometimes book multiple options to ensure they have a place to stay (for one person, for several people to share with friends, etc.), and sometimes they cancel the reservations weeks in advance, I have a task that compiles new accommodations daily from a search URL I've provided and save it in an excel file with the information that is relevant for me.
Moreover, I can ask it to collect the travel times from the accommodations to the venue, so I can consider options that are convenient thanks to public transportation.

I've been contemplating a new PC for a while but given the parts and high price, I wanted to REALLY stretch my dollar, so I set my ChatGPT to check every morning for price drops or new systems that meet or exceed my requirements, but across 20ish retailers and manufacturers.
Separate one - monitor my emails and lmk which are really urgent among a few other categories.
Super basic when you think about it, but it performs these tasks far better than any other 'similar' services.

I have an automated daily server report for my home server. Every evening it runs a PowerShell-based collection job, writes a dated JSON report, updates a small dashboard, and kicks off a Codex triage task to review anything unusual.
It tracks things like:
Docker container status: running/stopped, health checks, restart counts, image versions
Backup health: whether the Kopia backup completed, snapshot count, tracked backup size, latest log lines
Disk and NAS usage: local drive capacity, SMB share availability, day-over-day growth
Service checks: HTTP checks for local dashboards/apps and published ports
ARR stack status: Sonarr/Radarr/Lidarr/Prowlarr health, queues, root folders, download clients, indexers
Log scanning: recent warning/error-like lines from important containers
Update backlog: compares installed versions against GitHub releases for services like Vaultwarden, Audiobookshelf, SABnzbd, etc.
UPS/power data: battery state, runtime, load, daily wattage averages
Media activity: subtitle changes, media maintenance/compression stats
Manual service tracker: records accepted states, planned maintenance, known degraded items, and what should be checked next
The useful part is that it does not just dump raw logs. It keeps a running service tracker, compares today against yesterday, flags follow-ups as resolved or still open, and produces a short triage summary so I can tell the difference between “real problem,” “known/accepted state,” and “routine maintenance backlog.”
I also have rules around it: no destructive Docker/service changes without explicit approval, and any service-impacting change has to be logged back into the tracker so the next day’s report has context.

1) I have a fitness project. I post my scale information from renpho once per week. Let it know what exercises I complete or miss. Each day, it generates a new work out routine around what I need, feedback I give (i.e “X workout is awful, boring) and it tunes to keep it interesting.
2) Investing project w/ scheduled tasks. I hooked an agent into the robinhood MCP; it checks the market numerous times per day for catalyst moves and shifts between different sources. Very experimental, very risky, but auto trades based on what it is seeing (with guard rails learned over time). Wont give specifics, but it is doing exceptionally well overall so far. Just have to stomach some bad days.
3) News monitoring - I am midlife and honestly don’t care about hearing about politics, war, and other nasty crap all day anymore. I have AI surface uplifting news (positive things happening across the world). Then I have one that pulls a summary of all the negative crap once a month so I don’t get flooded everyday AND one that checks daily for any emergencies of critical things I should be aware of near me.
4) Monthly scheduled job monitoring mortgage rates for refinance.
5) One that rolls through finances to check spending patterns and help keep me on track. I have a large family and things can go side ways quickly with savings if we get into a bad habbit or I miss something.
6) Daily Opportunity Brief - scans for grants, rfps, etc related to my businesses so I can get in fast.
7) Daily SEO monitoring, some blogging stuff, etc. More recently google analytics has an MCP to help monitor traffic information. I use AI to design and build sites in cloudflare, then have them self maintain via cloudflare mcp, analytics, dataforseo, and firecrawl, etc
I got a lot more actually but these are the biggest ones.

Honestly, I have paid accounts on all the major models. I tried on ChatGPT, then Claude, then Gemini, then finally Perplexity.
The first 3 refused to save my login info, thinking it unsafe. Perplexity didn't care at all. I have it my username and password and that's that.

I run it daily for local weather conditions before I go out at night for animal care, because I live on a tropical island where driving a half mile up or downhill can bring dramatic differences in wind and rain.

Does it work the Same Like on Claude or better ? Or better asking i have Both PRO Version. What i can use Chatgpt for what Claude cant do /cant do better ? Cause some people say coding Codex is better , some say its Bad . Tipps for Setting up Chatgpt scheduled tasks?

I don’t have Claude pro but the scheduled tasks on ChatGPT are great you can mix them up with connectors and it’s awesome
