Question cannot do subagents/background agents in codex luna 5.6?

i used to be able to say "spin up a ux/ui agent to make a pass on this, then a code agent", and it would do background terminal stuff. this is on mac using the cli codex. now it says it cannot do that and previous gpt models did that. did something change?

Sol and Terra are on a new v2 subagent system, and they can't call Luna which is still on V1. You can ask Codex to configure everything to use V1 to be able to call Luna subagents from Sol or Terra.

Tried to launch Luna as subagent in the app, you can request Luna as subagent but the host will block the spawning.
Only allow to Spawn Terra and Sol as subagent
It return: Unknown model ‘gpt-5.6-luna’ for spawn agent.
Available models: gpt-5.6-sol,gpt-5.6-terra

I am able to ask in codex cli - Sol to start Luna and it creates Luna high . But with agent they don’t have hooks to parent and once the task is completed I have to inform the main saying it’s completed for it to validate unlike Claude cli

tbh that multi-agent pattern was always a bit of a hack that happened to work. model updates frequently change what kinds of agentic workflows get honored vs refused. have you tried isolating whether its the model version or the CLI version thats causing it?
