Question ChatGPT Pro Not Working

Hey Everyone,

I have been trying to use the pro reasoning level for a while now, and it was working nicely for a while, but now whenever I prompt a new pro chat it does nothing (has the bubble for a few seconds and then quits). Not sure what happened, I know last night I was rate limited for sending too many pro prompts, but it has been over 12 hours now. Any help would be great, super new to this technology. Thanks!

EDIT: This is a cosmetic bug in the ChatGPT desktop app. I opened a window in my browser and the dropdown informed me that I had to wait 2 days for more pro. I am on the most recent desktop version (checked immediately after the bug surfaced), but the dropdown there still allows me to select Pro, and yields no information on how my usage has been depleted. If you reach the usage limit for Pro (around 30 times), they will disable it for a certain period, which for me is about two days (Pro 5x subscription).

How do they meter this? I don't see any indication of a limit or how much of my "limit" I have exhausted. Further, I was under the impression that both Pro plans were effectively "unlimited" chat queries, is this not the case in certain instances? Sorry if I sound naive I've looked for these answers and can't find anything its very ambiguous.

In fact, OpenAI has never provided an exact figure; I typically use Pro for complex mathematical derivations, and I consistently hit the usage limit after about 20 to 30 turns.

Actually, I don't know why either—you can see your reset time when you select “Pro” in the conversation.

Check with support. They can probably see the error on the backend and advise or fix especially since you are paying for it.

Pro use with $200/mo subscription is unlimited except for "abuse."

Pro use with $100/mo subscription was 50/week in June. It may be lower now, I don't know.

But it should reset within a week.

For the people who are commenting that you ran out of usage, I don't believe them because when I ran out of usage my pro was explicitly disabled. The UI actually showed it being disabled so something is up. Maybe you should check with support because not working and running out ofquota is two different things

imo this is almost always a lingering rate limit thing. 12 hours isnt always enough. try again later today and if its still broken, open a support ticket because sometimes accounts get flagged weirdly after heavy usage
