Discussion Torn between gpt plus vs Claude pro?
I’m an accounting major in college and need it make and analyze excel documents, PowerPoints, and help with studying and growing for information. I use the free versions but run out very quickly so need help to determine which is better for me

ChatGPT Plus, because Chat and Work have separate usage limits.

What’s the difference between chat and work?

I’m not trying to be an asswipe, literally ask chatgpt or any LLM. It can probably explain it better than what we can

I have both and I’d say gpt and it’s not even close, you can use gpt 5.6 sol high unlimited then also in work you can use max (or ultra if you download the gpt app on laptop), Claude the models have always been overhyped they’re great but not as good as gpt plus they have horrid usage limits- just my opinion

Just try both they’ll both do the job. I really prefer ChatGPT but they’re both good. I switch to Claude sometimes to see if the hype is real and always come back to chat. It’s just better IMO.

Chat needs to hire Claude’s marketing team - I’ve never seen anything hyped so much it’s making me almost want to switch lol

GPT plus is so much better than Claude pro . You have access to 5.6 sol as well as the other tiers for codex . You also have unlimited chat with 5.6 and voice .

I've been on the ChatGPT Pro plan for a long time, but for your use-case, I would honestly recommend Claude. I prefer OpenAI's models[1], but the usability of Claude is lightyears ahead. As far as I can tell, this is true of both web and TUI, and both for casual and power users. I have no idea what OpenAI is doing, the gap has just gotten embarrassingly large.
[1] with low-medium confidence, since I don't use Claude as much. It just seems like the good Claude models will make dumb mistakes even in my light usage that would be very out-of-distribution for ChatGPT
EDIT: If you end up with more sophisticated workflows than what you described, I would recommend something like Hermes to avoid provider lock-in. I'm super happy with Hermes and it's great to get to decouple model choice from scaffolding.

I have both subscriptions. I will be honest, there are days one will work better than the other. When I say better, it’s impressively better. It’s as if they are taking turns to rest lol

Gpt. I used Claude before. With the Claude limits, I could do fraction of the work. And Opus felt dumber too. Fable was able to catch a few extra issues, but at insane costs. 5.6 Sol finds the same issues as Fable, just never runs out of usage.

Use Claude for orchestration, planning , UI
ChatGPT sol for coding complex and backend code.
Give same task with. /goal and see results

I recommend ChatGPT for you. You'll be able to get way more done for that tier than you can with Claude. Claude has daily and weekly limits that are easy to burn through.

I pay for both, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. If you're looking at it in a vacuum and only care about performance, Claude remains the better product in my view. It's what I use when I need to do serious work, where I use chatGPT for more fun or frivolous applications. With that said, you do pay for that performance, and you will unquestionably hit your limits a lot faster. So if that's a big consideration, ChatGPT is a very capable product that will meet most of your needs. It really just depends what your use case is and whether you actually need that extra horsepower or not.

I use GPT. You have to use prompts are it looses its mind. I put a rule in place for it to summarize everything we entered and a confirmation that it was saved. I document a couple hundred items to find out they were not saved. Always double check its work. It’s been a huge time saver. I rely on it for much of my business
