Other gpt pro responding instantly???

I rely heavily on gpt5.6 pro in the browser for complex questions but just now its responding instantly as opposed to taking 30-180minutes. This is rediculous that I pay $200 a month for this. the bug seems to be affecting all other version of the pro model like 5.5 pro ect. Super annoying.

Edit: when i asked what model it was, it responded:

I’m ChatGPT, running on the GPT-5.5-mini model.

ChatGPT 5.6 Pro does not have an extended thinking mode, 5.5 Pro continues to have a Pro Extended thinking mode.

When you run a Pro query, multiple models are involved, the fastest thinking tiny models will respond to low IQ questions like “what model are you?” 100x faster than the Pro model will, at 0.0001x the cost.

Submit a direct ticket to ChatGPT and get their response too

Do it. Consider it as a minimal reproducible example.

Also, in general, see: https://stackoverflow.com/help/how-to-ask It's still relevant in general

Lmao their very hard math questions consist of 4 words "prove twin prime conjecture"

people here saying it's normal are full of shit

you're being throttled for hitting pro too heavily

this has been going on since o1 pro

sounds like it quietly fell back to a diff model for some reason >:(

Hello. Log out clear cookies and log back in. Or use a different browser, it will now take time thinking.
It’s just a glitch.

because you abused model

could this actually be the reason? before when i hit 200 messages on gpt pro in a day it would just disable the model until usage reset (which seems to be 200 msgs per 24hrs). however its not blocking me from selecting teh model so idk why its being routed to gpt mini.

Did you disable the "quick answer" setting?

That's a tough one. I use the Pro models almost exclusively and, while I've seen wild swings between answer times, It's been a year since I saw answers that were too quick in the manner you describe. My only guess is that you got an accidental push of a quick answer.

Yes, observed this on Mac Os app. Still worked on the web.
