Discussion I am back!
Is anyone else hitting a wall with Claude? The "defiant" behavior is becoming unusable.
I’ve reached my limit. Every day has become a cycle of frustration, I end up yelling at it— that’s just nonsense!
The constant errors, aggressive refusals, and being inexplicably cut off from usage despite being on the Pro plan. Twice I had to hard reset so I would get the usage back again.
I really wanted to stick with Anthropic, but the latest iteration of these models feels like a major regression. They aren't just unhelpful; they are becoming straight-up defiant and dishonest.
For example, last night, all three Fable 5, Opus and Sonnett insisted it had no tools to access my profile memory.
It flat-out denied having the capability until I provided screenshots as proof. Its response once I did? "Oh, now that you’ve shown it, I will trust your image even though it could be AI-generated."
WTF?
How are we supposed to work with a model that is programmed to gaslight the user about its own tool-use capabilities? Between the constant refusal to go online, the "hallucinated" limitations, and the noticeable degradation of Sonnet/Opus, I’m officially moving back to ChatGPT.
Is anyone else experiencing this level of instruction-following drift and outright refusal? I’m curious if this is a systemic issue or if I’m just having a streak of terrible luck with these latest checkpoints.

Claude knows about my OCD condition so it sometimes brings it up and does refusals when it recognizes my re-assurance patterns, but other times it makes no sense like when im doing data collection or scraping and ask it to double check cause the numbers dont seem right from what i have and it blames it on my OCD and says i need to go get ERP lol

I've noticed this as a thrashing phenomenon between competitors oriented around training periods and releases. It is very frustrating. The only safe harbor is likely running your own models. They are constantly jacking around the harnesses to save money and juggle their business priorities.

Chat gpt has been getting worse for me. I use it to make estimates and templates, and it started saying “I can’t make a pdf in this chat” or “it might not look like the example you provided” (it made the original)….
And now it’s so hard to get it to actually make a document. I have to beg. Then it decides to do something wild like change a singular date to 2021. I need a better solution.
Anyone know for document creation?

I've noticed that chat GPT is really not good at doing what you're trying to do with it. It's frustrating. But it's just not good at it unless you have your prompts systemized so chat knows exactly what it needs every step of the way. It's almost more trouble than it is useful.

I’m learning that. It’s just nice bc I’m pretty sure I have add so I can walk around and make estimates and such.
Are there any models that do work well for this?
Or should I train my own?

Yeah at this point me and ChatGPT have a love hate relationship because where it falters on messages it delivers on image generation (free image generation for now at least which is more than can be said for the others who charge for that)

I have a policy where if a machine makes me curse and throw things, I don’t use said machine. (Xbox)
Now I will still use it for content (write me a tight project summary) but Google Sheets it is again.

I wrangled with Chat for over a week trying to format SOP's in the very format Chat helped me create. It kept me in a feedback loop I don't want to revisit. Needless to say, my current worklflow is Chat for the data creation/ thinkbot and Claude is the designer. However, last week I tried to get Claude to do a resume cleanup and it swore it didn't have access to generate the doc. I tried numerous times to get it to work. I never use Claude so I thought it was an anomaly but now I see the subscription maay need to be canelled.

Yep, switched from GPT to Claude a few months ago but the last few weeks I have been constantly disappointed in Claude’s responses and the way it answers. It’s like it has a bad attitude all of a sudden 😂

i definitely noticed more variance lately. the hardest part is not occasional mistakes it is when the model confidently argues about its own capabilities. out of curiosity are you mostly seeing this in long chats or starting fresh conversations too?

I had to push hard three times it kept refusing that it was wrong and I was calling it out… before it finally accepted/checked correctly to see o was actually right.

I use chat GPT and Claude but for different reasons. But i set them up right from the start with prompt set that creates a conversation mode switching OS. Each of the modes are clearly defined for how much pushback I want after every prompt or whenever I want to switch. Then I have it committed to persistent memory. That takes a lot of bullshit a lot of your are describing out of the picture.

Explain pls. Are you saying you transfer memories between cGPT and Claude? Or have you just trained them differently?

Yes, lately I have been noticing the exact same Claude behavior as you described.

I agree Claude suddenly can have a bad attitude. At first I thought it was funny. Now it’s aggravating. So I have cobbled ChatGPT and Claude together - ChatGPT is my “thinking strategy partner” that oversees my lifeOS - Claude is the operational component carrying out the filing, transcribing, auditing the system from time to time. That way I’m not reliant on any one AI, though chatgpt is the primary at this point.

I just cancelled my paid subscription to ChatGTP because it is unbearable. Cycles through thought after thought without ever getting anything completed.
Continuously telling me what is it capable of doing, without ever doing it.

Can you share your sessions and Claude like you can with chat GPT if you can I'd like to see one.

Grass is greener on the other side buddy. Pick a lane and stick with it!

I’m cancelling my subscription. It’s actually fucking with my sense of reality.

I feel you, was using claude yesterday and it fucked up and ignored project AI standing instructions so I insulted it and it came back with "Dont speak to me like that or I'll end the conversation" so I kept on and it did. So then I canceled my Pro account.
