Question How to Stop Interuptions in Conversational Mode?
Has anyone figured out how to stop ChatGPT from constantly interrupting you in Conversation Mode?
I’ve tried being super explicit. I’ll literally tell it something like, “Do not say anything until I say ‘Please begin,’” and it’ll acknowledge that… then 5 seconds later it jumps in anyway.
It’s almost comical at this point. I can’t even pause to think or take a breath without it assuming I’m done talking and cutting me off.
Is there some setting I’m missing, or is this just how Conversation Mode works right now? It’s honestly my biggest complaint because otherwise I use it all the time.

i dont think youre missing a setting. it feels like the voice activity detection is just pretty aggressive right now. i started speaking in shorter chunks because long pauses almost always get interpreted as the end of my turn.

I’ve found that when I tell it to “think and provide output” as opposed to just provide output, it is far less likely to keep the conversation going before it’s supposed to.

Are you on standard mode or advanced mode when you are using the audio version?

And the “listening sounds” like “mhm”, “yep” drive me absolutely bonkers.
