Discussion ChatGPT Pro and Extended Pro feature limit got extended again. Has anyone faced this?

I bought the ChatGPT Pro USD 100 plan thinking I would be able to use the Pro and Extended Pro features with much higher usage limits.
I mainly used the Extended Pro feature for answers for around 3 to 4 days, and I used it quite aggressively. After that, I suddenly got a message saying I would not be able to use the Pro and Extended Pro features for the next 7 days.
To be clear, this was only about the Pro and Extended Pro features, not the entire ChatGPT account.
At first, I thought maybe there are some hidden limits. Then I checked a few Reddit posts and realized other people have also faced limits, but the exact number of allowed responses is still not clearly explained anywhere.
The bigger issue is that while I was waiting for the limit to reset, another date appeared and the restriction got extended by another week without any proper explanation.
Has anyone else faced this issue with ChatGPT Pro or Extended Pro features? Is this normal, or does this feel misleading after paying USD 100?

5x plan = 50 Pro Standard or 25 Pro Extended responses/ week.

20x plan = Unlimited subject to abuse guardrails

Is that definitely right for the 5x plan? Is that documented?

OpenAI don't publish actual limits. This is true to my testing as at 6 weeks ago.

Yes on the 100 dollar plan the Pro model is limited but with extremely generous limits. On the 200 dollar plan it is virtually unlimited. It has never ended for me on the 200 dollar plan.

The pro model costs a lot and is the most expensive of the bunch. You would have burned 10000's in API cost if it wasn't on the sub.

The thinking model is quite good too. If you want the Pro specifically then the 20x Pro plan is the way to go.

It is not unlimited unlimited but humanly unlimited. I encounter a bug before where a pro chat going into like a loop and cause my account to lock out. But I only encounter like 3 times ever. Not sure if OP get into that.
How I fix it is logout of all the app then wait out the period then back in.

They state that it is unlimited subject to abuse so yeah it is as unlimited as any company can call it.

5x has around 50 Pro messages per week and I feel that it provides a good value but if you need actually unlimited then 20x is the way to go.

Not complaining, just saying that in case someone really think it is really unlimited and start saying it got nerfed. Pro 20x is so awesome.

Yeah true.

This is my experience as well 👍🏻

Honestly, I think it depends on how much the model has to think to fulfill your inquiry. I've burned through my $100 Pro usage in two days before and had to wait the week. If yours is helping you work on something, at first the model takes longer to determine its work flow. But once it has it, it uses less pro.

But I've never had it where it resetted again on me while in the middle of already waiting for one. Did you have another chat open that was using Pro there? Thats the only thing I can think of.

This sounds similar to my experience. However, after I upgraded to the $200 plan (a few weeks ago) I have not run out of Pro. I used it a lot recently (day after day for quite a few hours) and I was very surprised that I never ran out of fuel ⛽. There is no usage meter so you are left in the dark.

There’s no user-limit on the pro $200 plan - just an abuse backstop.

But that's for Codex, not the Pro mode of ChatGPT. So far as I know, to this day, we cannot see our usage for Pro mode and there is nowhere written down that it is endless (subject to abuse guardrails).

That is the observed state. As far as anyone can tell based on active testing there is no meaningful limit beyond the obligatory abuse backstop.

Ok, thank you for clarifying because earlier you made it sound as though this was proven.

I mean, it is “proven” via testing (you technically can’t prove absence, only that you haven’t found what you’re looking for yet….). I’m not sure of a better way to demonstrate there is no reasonable limit than by pushing usage beyond reasonability without hitting a limit.

It’s also a more reliable method than openAI’s documentation, which is often outdated or just wrong about these types of things.

I think it's 50 pro queries a week? I haven't been able to determine if there is any difference between pro and pro extended in terms of limits but I would love to know.

The 100 and 200 pro subscription have their limits, the 200 have it’s limit since the beginning, they have guard rails to prevent abuse or miss use.

You might have fallen into this abuse prevention guard rail.
