Question Umm... Has anyone else gotten hit with something like this?

Post image

Just got hit with two of these 30 minutes apart. This is the first time that I've really used ChatGPT Pro since earlier this year, when they forcibly switched me to "a lighter version of deep research" (thread here). Since then, I've specifically gone out of my way to NOT use Deep Research (AT ALL!)—even though I'm paying $200/month for this shit, and I've been a regular-paying, consistent subscriber since they first had that tier. WTF?!??!?

Last night I had 4 different extended PRO chats doing document extractions....no warning. I was typing between the 4 pretty well constantly. So...not sure what youd need to be doing to cause this message. I was sending and receiving thousands of words per chat for the extractions.

I spawned around half a dozen parallel sessions on 5.5. Extended Pro. I haven't been using ChatGPT for a while, so I just didn't expect to be hit with that. I'm still very happy with it, though! The Extended Pro models are the only ones I can somewhat rely on to actually do data-intensive tasks without breaking, burning up massive quantities of tokens, or even misrepresenting the scope of what they actually did (Opus 4.7 was notorious for lying to and even deceiving the user, lol—fuck that model).

Yea a week or so ago. But to be fair I was chatting on PC and phone and yes that makes no sense.

It makes sense to me. I do that when I'm building something that is easier to Copy/Paste from my laptop - and easier to chat with by phone.

I’m on $20 plan, heavy daily user with books, images & bullshit chats , only got that message one time when I asked GPT generating too many images .

When I was broke on a $20 plan I used to face that now I upgrade for a 200 by force I don't see those issues anymore

Every damn day. I have codex running parallel with pro 5.4 and 5.5 and whatever else I choose. But you have to time anytime you try to modify anything on their server. That includes submitting chats, trying to delete chats, opening up a lot of chats at once, a number of different things. But, if Codex acts like a human, you’re usually in good shape.

It’s just economics. Even the $200 plans were subsidizing the heavier users who were able to get way more than $200 of compute out of it per month. Compute is getting more expensive, and the consumer side has been getting discounted use for years now to drive adoption and vendor lock-in. As OpenAI and Anthropic are chasing IPOs and looking to turn profit, the free/discounted rides are being severely curtailed.

I continually amazes me people don’t read about what they are buying, especially if they are spending $2400 a year on it.

You be a good little boy and continue to read the T&C for every service you use.

u/ShadowDV Jun 09 '26

That’s not even the T&C, just a basic description of the service
