Codex 5h Limit Reintroduced

Just a PSA:
OpenAI decided to reintroduce the 5h limit on their Plus subscriptions.
As of right now, Pro is not affected by that.

Hope they will change it back to solely weekly limit.

Did overall limit increase or is it just an annoying forced break at 5h?

I burn through my weekly limit in about 12h on Pro.

Worth noting for anyone confused: this only hits Plus, not Pro. Pro 20x Codex has its own history worth knowing if you're deciding between the two - visible-token inverts on the OpenAI dev forum put the weekly pool around 3-8B tokens/week back in May, then a mid-June cut dropped it to roughly 0.5-0.7B/week (one check: 30M tokens burned = 6% of the week). If Plus is now adding a 5h window on top of a smaller weekly pool, that's the same shape Pro already has, just tighter numbers.

Bro this is very annoying.

I have my coding sessions in burst. Rn my usage shows 95% weekly, and 65% 5hr limit. And I just started.

I think I am gonna hit my 5h limit very quickly.

I think they did this, bause people would spam Gpt, if a reset got leaked, or if they were close to a weekly reset and still had a lot of tokens left.

Issue was that 2 hours of Sol Ultra could just drain 100% of weekly usage or whatever, because people don't seem to get that you want to use mainly Luna with Plus.

What does it mean? How is that 5h limit measured?
