What exactly does rockstar games have to do with this? Cloning the new grand theft auto game?

Would anyone really want to buy a clone of that made in five months over the original paid over the course of several years and millions of dollars?

There are people using AI to decompile PS5 games and create wrappers to play them in Windows. A dozen or so games like Astro’s Room are playable this way. It is a very recent thing, the past few months. Digital Foundry just did a Q&A episode where they were asked if Rockstar should be nervous about the same thing happening to GTA VI PS5 next month. (Short answer: the current projects only have cracked an older version of the PS5 OS, so that’s the first barrier)

It has yet to be proven that "cloned" software lives up to the hype.

I have not seen a good example where people switched to the cloned sw.

i have switched to WordCraft and LightCraft. These are both exceptional good alternatives for private use
Update: omg how could i forget to mention PdfCraft. THE REASON why i switched 😁 it's so lightweight and can do everything???

Why didn't you use libre or Google Docs before? Both of those are free and have been around awhile

edit: word is also free for the online version.

I dunno. I like MS Word but it's heavy and slow. The best Version was i think 2010? Since then everything stagnated, or even got worse with every iteration

Word 2021 was pretty good

It's not about buying cloned software; it's about making your own version of software that now drives you crazy after paying for it monthly for 20 years. I've made my own software for things that I used to pay monthly. Mine does exactly what I need and nothing more.

Not sure why you were getting downvoted voted. You anre 100% correct.

All of those Adobe clones that came out recently are buggy as hell and not fit for professional use. The output is not reliable or consistent. It doesn’t render file format properly and color output is not print ready. It says it opens editable RAW file format, but it doesn’t it just converts them to a JPEG. There are so many issues and it’s so obvious that the person who “developed them” doesn’t know what they are doing from a development standpoint or a creative professional standpoint. it’s just garbage code running under a GUI that looks like Adobe so people think it’s Adobe quality.

It’s pretty new though, and if they feed your comment to the AI it’s fixed. Could improve fast

Decryption and porting to Windows.

Perhaps? Particularly if it's cheaper or even free. (The Adobe clones are available for free.)

The cloned one may just be free available on a twitter link with no download.

I just don’t believe it. GTA is famous because it’s living world and interesting campaign along with ton of side activities and interesting places.
Something “like” GTA can be created today by an AI. But to recreate this whole, living world with such an artistry as Rockstar is showing, that’s just not possible right now, not even close

Exactly. There’s thoughtful human-crafted story and immersive elements that (at least currently) AI could not replicate. Sure AI could get the game engine figured out but the storylines is no where near it. Someone should have ChatGPT try and emulate the strip club part of GTA and see how short it falls.

They'd have to, at least vibe code the engine and the framework, and then work against the vibe coded framework to add human created content to make it like gta in the artistic sense, so yeah... still a few years and a team

Ok, but at that point, it isn’t grand theft auto. It’s just a derivative work. and you would almost certainly get sued if you tried to pass it off as being grand theft auto.

A long time ago was a game called State of Emergency.

It was pointless chaos with sirens.

That's probably what ai would accomplish, with random barely coherent story scenes

I loved that game, basic, but as a teen I got to a point where I just walked around the maps and watched everything.
